I’m about to start studying Audit tomorrow and was wondering how long it takes most people to study this section so I can have an idea of how I should set up my schedule. I’ll be using CPA Excel and purchasing Ninja MCQ after I finish the book.

I think I spent way too much time on lectures and made too many notes previously. After talking to some people on this forum today I think i’ll just read the book, watch lectures if I can’t grasp the text, write brief notes, and go over previous MCQs from prior chapters.

Also, is there anyone who has used Ninja Audio for Audit?

I took 8 weeks – I used the shortest time for all of the exams. I studied 2+ hours a weeknight and 5-8 hours each on Sat and Sun. I felt well prepared and that it was plenty of time to study the material.

Approx 50 hours + some on-the-job experience for me. I'd recommend at least 80 hours (approx 4 weeks, depending on your study intensity).

Here is a tip from someone that has taken that blasted section 3 times. 68, 74 and hopefully a 75 or higher next week – just study FAR.

I work in tax and graduated in 2011. I went in thinking Audit would be my worse exam. The way I studied and learned was to get through all the material and work the MCQS in the order that the topics were taught. Audit didn't make sense to me until near the end of my studying. I had to walk myself through the audit process and explain to myself why every step was needed.

For AUD, I studied right at 5 weeks using Becker.
Week 1: A1
Week 2: A2-3
Week 3: A4-5
Week 4: A6, start progress tests
Week 5: Progress tests/review/mock exam

When I went through each module, I read (not watched) the lecture, and then did the MCq. I really did't do any sims, besides the ones in the mock exam. Important part in the progress tests is to hit the areas you didn't fully grasp the first time or have forgotten. 5 weeks was a good length of time for me because it was enough to finish all the material, but not long enough to forget it all. Had it not coincided with the busiest part of tax season (working 65+ hours a week), I really think I could have done it in 3 or 4 weeks.

Not sure how helpful this is since I don't know my score yet (took in April), so you might check back with me after June 28th LOL. Also, as I'm sure you have seen many, many times by now- there are so many study strategies, you have to find what works best for you.

I gave myself two months for AUD but I'd say I only had about 6 weeks of productive study (holidays etc got in the way). After watching all the lectures I took thorough notes on vocabulary and the components of the different letters and opinions, also made flowcharts to understand different processes as well as the prescribed flow of the different cycles. That and MCQ got me through. I don't think I practiced many sims.

I am with @itooshallpass. I took FAR Dec 2nd and AUD Feb 2nd, so 2 months exactly but December wasnt an ALL in focus. I still studied but not as hard as I did in January. I have becker and did lectures, multp choice and all sims except maybe 3-5 within 2 chapters, usually the ones that had two different sim modules. I have 2.5 years of public accounting experience auditing so that did help.
