Failed AUD for the second time. Need Advice. - Page 2

    Hey Everyone,

I’ve never been one to fail any sort of exam. Failing the first time was a shock. I studied diligently for the AUD re-take and felt pretty confident about it upon exiting the exam. Both scores have been a 73. Can anyone recommend a new course of action? Clearly whatever I am doing is not worth two points.

I have studied with the Becker self-study material. Please advise me on how I should proceed. Failing two times is quite the blow to my confidence.

    Thanks.

Definitely add Wiley and work on each individual module until you feel comfortable with the overall % correct and know why each answer is right/wrong. I did about 1000 of them in the 5 days leading up to my exam and recognized a bunch that were word for word from Wiley.

MCQ really are the way to learn!

Hey, I did well on Audit and this was my study plan:

    1. Read each chapter

    2. Watch the lecture/highlight the stuff they tell you

3 Then Once again go through the stuff you highlighted/review important aspects of the chapter again

    4. Do review questions

    5. Make sure you see what you did wrong

After I went through each chapter this way, I went back and re reviewed all the stuff i highlighted and did 20 questions per small section of each chapter.

Then I did both BEcker final exams

Also make flash cards for stuff that needs to be memorized

I know it's a lot but it should work.

Good luck. And don't get down about failing. We are allowed retakes for a reason

I can't tell you what to do, because, well, I just failed it for the third time. However, I can tell you to hang in there! I know it sucks. A lot. If I fail next time, it is going to be a very tearful day, as it means I will lose my BEC credit. Anyway, after getting a failing score, I feel a lot better once I have developed a study plan and picked out a new notebook to use as scratch paper and take notes in. I realize that not everyone shares my love for schedules and office supplies, but feeling like I have moved forward with the next exam helps me feel like I can move forward from my last score.

This next time around, I am putting a huge emphasis on MCQ's, and the only reading that I am doing is over my notes from questions I missed when I was studying. My MCQ's have been weak every time, but my Sims have been strong every time, so I don't think my issue is that I don't understand the material. I think my issue is that I don't understand what some questions are really asking or overlooking important words that completely change the meaning of the question.

Good luck RedRaiderCourtney. I am in the same boat with getting a devastating score, again.

One thing I will caution you on, don't neglect refreshing SIMS. I did your MCQ study technique because I was strong in SIMS but weak in MCQ. Last score, 74 again but this time I was weak in SIMS. Boo hiss CPA exam.

    REG - 75
    BEC - 76
    AUD - 76
    FAR - 84, DONE 11/9/14!

Normally, I would agree with you. I've had to work SIMS pretty hard on the other three sections (about one day per week of studying, so 6 to 7 days total). But this last time I took audit, I only worked SIMS for one day (two days before my exam), and they were still in the “stronger” category. So, I'm tempted to go the same route this time. I will see where my MCQ's are two weeks before the exam and then decide if I can spare some time to work SIMS, but the current plan is for only one day.
