Ok, first time exam taker…I am just starting to study for Audit with Becker. Is 25 days an adequate amount of time to prepare for this section of the exam? I am planning on focusing on studying 6-8 hours a day (no job or school…) and I just finished my degree. I also took my audit class last semester so the material is pretty fresh. Can anybody share some insight??

You will be fine…even at 6 hours per day that is 150 hours.

The suggested i believe is between 80-100.

If you stick to the 6-8 hours you will be good.

You are in the perfect position to pass this exam. Like CPA-Valenz said, this hour requirement is probably more important than the week-span requirement. However, don't overload yourself. After a few hours, go take a walk, clean up the house, watch TV, or do whatever else you want to take a load off for a half hour. Then get back to it.

The hours and days that you spend studying aren't nearly as important as the quality of your study time. If you aren't absorbing anything, take a break and clear your mind.

Memorize the standard report WORD-FOR-WORD. I know that sounds ridiculous, but you'll be able to answer a lot of the MC questions (and probably a few of the sims) through that memorization. Since you've recently graduated and recently taken an audit course, you are still in study-mode and will rock the exam. Three weeks is definitely enough time given your situation.

    Good luck!

@ Spartan: I think you will do great. What Allen said about the audit report is right on…I'm not taking this part until next month, but a friend of mine has said the same thing. Memorize the audit report VERBATIM. I have already found that to be true just from starting the Ch. 1 questions in Becker. If I knew that report by word, I would be getting the questions correct. And breaks are equally important. When I was studying for REG, I found that some of my time was not used to my advantage. When I realized that, I would stop bc I wasn't retaining the info. It usually happened at night, so I would just go to bed. But on the weekends I would take a short nap when I get tired. Since you do not have to work, naps will probably do you well. Just make sure that you set an alarm so you don't sleep too long. When I napped one weekend I figured I would wake up on my own within an hour. I wasn't that tired, but my brain was overloaded and it needed to rest. And I always have trouble sleeping anyway. Boy was I dead wrong when I woke up 5 hours later and I wasted my entire Saturday in bed!!! Now I set an alarm and make myself get up 😉

    REG 79 (Becker); BEC 63 (Becker) 70 (Yaeger); AUD 66 (Becker; 11/30 - Becker); FAR 11/24 (Yaeger/Wiley)

I am doing the same thing. I am sitting for FAR on April 29th, and i want to take audit on the 21.

I tend to stay up late so after I get home from work i hang out for about an hour. I started investing so i usually spend some of my time on that, and staying up later at night since I can not go to sleep until at least 12:30-1 under any circumstance. And, it is hell to wake up some mornings.

25 days with no school or work? Yes, bluntly put, it's way more than enough time to pass. I know you are probably in the unknown having this be your first exam, but you should have plenty of time to study. I know people that have studied for like 5 days of cram and passed. For someone who intends on spacing it out and studying over a longer spread of days, 25 days is still a lot. I have spent about 10-12 hours a chapter with 5 hours total review (i usually procrastinate and finish studying the last chapter the night b4 the exam and stay up till 4am reviewing..i dont suggest this LOL!) for each of my exams and passed 2, far/bec, in the 80's. im currently studying AUD and will probably put in like 60-75 hours of studying, maybe less considering i get distracted and waste lots of time.
