@Sticky Nicky – I think that varies with the season. Remember, a lot of us are trying to wrap up before the exam changes, and there are quite a few accounting schools in my area.

is it just me or does anyone have similar issues. I've been studying for 4 hours with small breaks in between but I have only done 61 MCQ and read prob 50 pages.. I feel like im super slow. The worse is I get 60's on the HW.

@sticky, all the dates are fully booked at my testing center. I was hoping to switch my AUD test earlier. But the earliest was Nov 18. I rather stick to it now even though Im ahead

@Spartans92 – no, it's not just you. I can't just whiz through the video lectures, they skip over too much – I'm constantly pausing to read the skipped material and/or write a note card or two (especially mnemonics – I carry those around with me).

As for poor results on MCQs – DON'T THINK OF THEM AS TESTS – THEY ARE TEACHING TOOLS. None of us learns complex accounting treatments just by reading about them (even if we learned the details in school a million years ago). We re-learn by doing the problems, so embrace the mistakes – mistakes are how we learn. You will get horribly discouraged and even depressed if you think about the MCQs like a test of what you just heard in the lecture. Depressed people don't study effectively, so don't let it happen!

I do know one or two people who seem to whiz through the questions – but they are the exceptions, the heros with scores in the 90s. We only need a 75, so learn all you can – you're sure to have more info now than on your first take. Just don't get discouraged!

I feel like someone left definitions out of the book… What is the big deal about “preparation” vs. “compilation”? They sound like the exact same thing, except that compilations come with a separate 1-paragraph “report” that doesn't really say much?

Am I missing something here that makes these two concepts worth dozens of paragraphs in the standards and more exam questions?

(getting tired and cranky, probably need a break!)

    Hi all,

I need help. What are you using to prepare for adjusting journal entry type questions? I am using Roger and have not seen anything relating to this within the audit lectures, cram course, or IPQs (MC and TBSs).

Please let me know what you suggest I should do.

    Thanks,

I am taking audit this weekend, I actually think what I am about to mention has been discussed here but I cannot seem to find the original post. Anyways, for the sims, is it more than likely that most of the answers can be found in the authoritative literature tab ( excluding research question)?

@nk522 I've been told that the only real use for the Authoritative Literature tab is the research question. Looking up info for sims will take you too long, you'll likely run out of time. Do you have a study method that shows you some sample sims?

To answer a few questions/reply to some comments…..

I'm pretty sure you're right about derivatives doc/cr/or. But one thing to watch out for is that if IR is adjusted higher and CR is adjusted lower, you might get a question about the DR. In this case, you would need to review the magnitude of each individual change.

You can use the AL for some of the other sims as well, not just the research question. But it's hit or miss. I had some that were really hard to find so the AL was not helpful. Audit is an exam where you will have a lot of time for the mcqs and sims.

I also have been having issues with finding good adjusting j/e practice problems and I am not sure where to go so any advice is appreciated.

Friends, exactly a month for my AUD exam- Dec 3rd, I sit.

Watching ROGER videos. Any tips which topic should I emphasize on(should I skip videos) ? I know we have to go through all. How to go about solving SIMS, is a question for me.

Will ROGER MCQs suffice, or should I opt for NINJA too ?

@Sticky Nicky oh yeah, they can throw anything your way on AUD sims. I use Wiley and there are some AJE relating sims were you need to do adjusting entry for accrued salaries at a year end, commissions, inventory, etc. So you need to have an understanding of DR/CR AJEs. I doubt it would be as complex a FAR bonds or interest.

    @CPA_Chik..

    What's AJE ?

Adjusting entries for accrued salaries, commission, inventory isn't it related to FAR ?

J/e and sims altogether have been terrible for me.

I'm not using roger but I assume it should work. I know a lot of ppl have passed with it. But Ninja McQ is pretty cheap. I failed audit using ninja, but I'm back at it again using ninja and I might supplement it with roger or Wiley or something (any suggestions?).

@JT I havent sat for the test yet but i feel well prepared from Roger,,,,I also did all ninja MCQs and almost done with Becker HW questions. during this becker run I've barely been missing questions,,alot are repeats though,,,so far I've probably done 5000+ questions between all 3 materials,,,and I also have Wiley,,,i dont think you can do enough MCQs
