Qlad, if you are using Becker for Audit, and you don’t have any Audit experience, that might be the reason you are failing. Audit is as dry as as a post-menopausal camel on antidepressants. I have Becker, but Im using Roger CPA for Audit. I heard he is the man when it comes to Audit.

@Qlad have you tried using Wiley? It generally covers everything you need to know for the exam. I used it for all four parts. I also had no Audit experience, but I think Wiley covered everything I needed to know.

@nyc….wowwww!!! at ur score in AUD…pls help me with a good strategy to study this one…I'm weak at mcqs and strong at sims…first time around, I was not prepared…2nd time I re-listened to all the lectures in becker and went from 64 to 71…3rd time was again in a hurry I think…it's been 3-4 mnths since I last attempted and don't know how to go about it…one thing is sure that I need new set of questions to practice … but not able to figure out my weak points…

I used the NINJA, Wiley and CPAreview test banks for AUD. I would say the Ninja test bank was great because the questions were harder and it tested minutia. I also felt their SIMS were very good for Audit, although, I would not technically count some as real SIMS. Have you tried using Ninja yet? That might get you over the hump. During my exam, I felt as though some of MCQ could go either way, but sometimes the answer is contained within the question itself, if that makes any sense. I would focus on assertions, transaction cycles and really knowing why an answer is correct. This is what helped me pass.

@Qlad – I used Becker and it was very good, but I also do plenty of auditing. I would suggest being open to using a different study program. They are all different and are tailored to different learning styles. You might find that you learn better from a different program. Best of luck!

I asked this a few days ago, but if comparative FS are presented but management was only there for the present year, the audior would still ask for a management representation letter for both years, correct? And if the audior was only present for one year, they only issue an opinion for that year?

@CPAHOPEFUL11, I think it depends if the Predecessor auditor will reissue his report or not for the previous year.

    AUD - 79 (expired) retaking July 28,2016
    FAR - 76 expiring July 31, 2016

But does it really matter if the predecessor does or not? I mean even if the predecessor doesn't, all you do is make reference to it in the report rignt?

@Cpahopeful11: i think when the SA does not present the PA's report, the SA should express opinion on the current period f/s only and indicate it on other matter paragraph: the py fs were audited by PA, the PA should not be named, the type of opinion and the date of the prev opinion. Obtain rep letter from mgt.

When the PA's report is presented, I think SA will express on opinion on the current year but no EMO par of those mention above. The only thing here is that the PA should read the current fs, compare fs, obtain rl from both mgt and SA.

Even though management may have only been there for a year, they must still make representations for all the years under audit. when it comes to the Auditor, if he is only auditing one year he must express an opinion on the year he audited. If the audit report of the predecessor auditor is presented then the successor auditor would still only express an opinion on the current years audit. if the audit report of the predecessor audit is not presented then the successor audit would still on express an opinion on the current years audit and indicate in an emo or om paragraph that the prior years were audited by another auditor…That is my understanding

Thanks, that's basically my understanding as well but wasn't sure.

How do you guys attack the audit evidence section? I am scoring in the 80s in all areas except the evidence portion. For some reason I just don't get it and it the most tested portion on the test along with IC.

@CPAHOPEFUL11 – I've just been making flashcards and re-reading the books to pound that in – I'm also kind of at a loss but hopefully that will work.

Anyone have a certain technique to make the Evidence chapter stick? It seems that chapter will be the death of me on exam day.
