@Allsheneededwassome I am sorry and I totally understand. This has been a very frustrating process. They shouldn't expire credits like that or at least the extend window by a few months so we have at least 2 full years to get it all done or remove some other restrictions of not being able to test in same qtr for same subject or release the scores early. I mean seriously they gotta do something about it but looks like none of it is significant to the Board and its source of revenue generation so I have feeling that things will exist to be the way they are unfortunately. I called my Board (TX) to see if they would even consider extending the passed credit in light of score delays but they denied. So keep up the hard work as this is no easy undertaking especially when little ones are in the picture and stay calm. I have this really bad neck and shoulder pain because of studying and not paying attention to my posture so don't ignore yourself. Health comes first.
I worked with NINJA mcqs last time so I am really not sure what went wrong. I did all of Becker and all of NINJA MCQs. One thing I didn't do was all of the SIMS. I did a fair amount but not all that were available to me and thats probably why I scored weaker in it.
Keep me posted with your progress. I just completed chapter 1 today and will work on chapter 3 next in Becker.

@FAMH110: I'm not even trying I know they (CA) aren't going to extend given my circumstances. So sorry about all that you're going through on the personal front, its not easy! I do try and work out every few days and it feels so much better. I actually was finally getting back into a healthy routine and was able to do stuff with the kids and enjoy family time.. BUT here we are..

We just have to keep plowing through. AUD just appears to be easy but its really not I guess. Idk what do to differently this time around. I took the test back in April, while I remember a lot of high level stuff I don't have a good grasp of the nitty gritty. I'm liking the NINJA MCQs so far, they are written differently than Becker and more representative of how actual exam questions seem to be worded.. thats what it seems like to me right now.

I may read through chapters in Becker, lacking the motivation right now to do that. ugh

@Famh110 I am sorry to hear about the issue of extensions. I thought Texas was better about it than most states. I am also in Texas and have had good experience with our Board.

@Allsheneedwassome…I am starting out with chapters I hate (namely 3 & 4) and from there will follow the regular order. Just planning on doing everything but extra focus on my weaker areas because it accounts for 40% of the grade which is huge. Just hope I can be done in 4 weeks and pass this thing.

@Julia- Thanks. Glad to hear that your experience has been good and that you are in Tx as well! I found them to be very rigid. I had two close deaths in family in November and December of last year so I thought they would be a bit lenient but it was a straight no. Btw, how were your incorporating Becker with Ninja?

@rahee I didn't take AUD in Q2, but I know some people that didnt pass it and said that it was really difficult. I honestly believe that I just got really good SIMs that matched up with things I felt I knew well. The MCQs felt as hard or harder than the NINJA MCQ, which based on the scores people tend to get on AUD, it looks like its the only exam where peoples scores actually decline from their trending in AUD. I still felt like I did ok on the MCQs though, but they were certainly tricky. I ended up doing all MCQs in about 1.5 hours and left 2.5 hours for the SIMs.

    @famh110
what I did this time was studied for FAR before taking AUD and I felt like it really helped on some of the SIMs. The only tips I can think of is to make sure you are familiar with FOB Shipping Point, FOB Destination, are familiar with AJEs, are familiar with ratios, and to be familiar with subsequent events. Also try to have 2.25 to 2.5 hours available on the SIMs so that you can utilize the Authoritative Literature on areas that you are not so sure of.

@Tarheel–Thanks for the tips. Well, having that FAR knowledge going into Aud would have come in handy for sure. In my last exam, I had this really enhanced TBS on ratios so I do need to brush up on that.

Getting back into AUD after two failures. I am using Becker right now and am trying to get this material down. I think my biggest weaknesses as of now are the transaction cycles. Do any of you guys have any tips to understand this better?

@Famh110: I read a chapter in Becker & make notes in the Becker book. I then go that same section in NINJA & write in things I want to remember later, in diff colored pens. It gets Lil crowded but I then re-write my notes to keep it in my head.
I have done the same w Roger book. I like Becker b/c of how it's outlined & explains things.

Hi, I am Heather. I am taking AUD on August 3rd. I have BEC scheduled for September 10th. I am currently working through the NINJA book and notes. I am going to start MCQ this weekend.

If you are given unaudited amounts, ex. gross sales, A/R. Would you decrease your A/R by Bad Debt Exp ? If anyone could help me with this it'd be appreciated.

@workingmyassets… : Welcome! You're not alone. I too am struggling big time in AUD for some reason. There are a bunch of us retaking the test in Q3 on here.

For transaction cycles, I would try to understand the flow of the transaction from start to finish and think through it? Sorry I know its not much help.

@famh110: What other NINJA tools did you or are you using? I haven't explored everything thats offered.. trying to see if its any good based on your feedback. I'm using the Becker book as I'm most familiar with the layout of things. I didn't like how NINJA book is written.

@nruss21: The JE to record bad debt expense is a debit to Bad Debt (expense) and a credit to Allowance for Doubtful Accounts (contra A/R). The write off entry is a debit to the same Allowance account and a credit to A/R. Not sure if this is what you're asking?

@Julia- thanks for the information. I do like the Becker book as well but i just need to learn to incorporate it with Ninja notes. Hopefully your prep for FAR is coming along good.

@Allsheneededwassome- I am basically using Becker software, Becker book, and Ninja Notes. I am just doing MCQs and SIMS that are given in a chapter. I studied it not too long ago so most of it is very fresh in memory. I think it has been some time since you took it so you may need to hit the books for some details. But even in your case, I would say start with MCQs and reference the book when needed and thats exactly what I am doing. Also go thru the Ninja notes on a daily basis based on whatever schedule you are following..6week, 5 week etc and listen to Ninja audio. Whenever you get time. So far I am stuck on chapter 3, its a monster chapter but its a heavily tested area and chp 4 as well. I am not using NINJA mcqs this time, just upset that it didn't work for me as I did everything except SIMS so maybe its the due to that but i hadn't memorized the answers. Trending 93%, Average 75%..score 73 :(.

Maybe someone who has passed it using NINJA can better educate us on how to NINJA wisely. @Heather…hello, looks like something is working well for you. please chime in and let us know. been at this for too long now.
