@4matic and @Allsheneededwassome – We got this. What review course are you all using?

Roger and Ninja, although I’ve failed 3x with Roger so I’m trying to switch things up in my last 12 days. I’m just not sure what to do. Rewrite notes on trouble areas? Keep doing questions?

HI Folks! I am studying for Audit a second time. I am using becker and am re-watching the lectures, re doing the study videos and re working the multiple choice questions from scratch. I wonder if there is a more efficient way to review. Should I jump a head to the final exam and keep working those problems? I don't do audits, I primarily do tax. However, I think it would be fun to audit a company, although studying for the subject is very dry!
My exam is Sep 6th and am currently on A3. I passed FAR last December and Reg last March.
Thanks for your help! This blog has been my therapy!!

@4matic – You should re-watch the lecture videos and do the questions again unless the material is really fresh in your brain. I've been doing the same thing I did when I first studied for AUD, except I'm going to spend a little more time on my weak areas indicated by the score performance report.

    @Matt
    – I agree with you that the academic aspect of the subject matter (AUD) is very dry, but I assure you that it's not like that in real life. I enjoyed every minute of my audit internship whereas it wasn't the same for the tax internship. I'm using Becker as well. I just finished going through all of the materials, and I'm reviewing by reading each module and re-do the MCQs. Once I'm done with that, I'm going to do cumulative sets of 36 MCQs until my eyes bleed.

Hi Gang! I took my exam today. Overall, I think it was ok since SIMS weren't so horrific. MCQs were manageable, got very wordy in the 2nd testiest like 2-3 sentences long questions and answers. SIMS were tricky, 6-8 documents to review..not confusing topics though but very lengthy. I took my entire time. Got done with 3 seconds to spare 🙂 So it's was really hands on. Had a flowchart SIM, one of the them seemed straight from the FAR exam. I hope I pass this time! Amen. I did use the Final Review and found it helpful.

@4matic, how are you scoring? don't waste too much time on watching lectures. watch it for the topics you are struggling with. that's what i did because i have very limited hours that i can study per day, 2-3 max. @matt, i would advice the same to you. skip lectures, skip skills. just do mcqs and sims. when you get tired with that read your notes, becker outlines are fantastic go thru those, ninja notes/audio etc.

Heading over to Reg group now! Best of luck to everyone! @Allsheneed..get back on your horse…aim to get it done in Q3. @Big4Bean, any tips on handling Reg? I have 25 days.

On my last attempts I was comparable on MCQ and weaker in sims, specifically related to the revenue cycles.

My current plan is to watch Rogers cram lectures, read my previous notes, read the Ninja book, answer MCQ and take notes on missed questions. Then rewrite my final review notes from previous exams and keep working MCQ and practice Sims in weak areas.

@FAMH110: Omg look at you! Done and done and onto REG. Very proud! Looks like you did well this time. All the best and keep us posted 🙂

@Big4..: I'm using a combination of becker and Ninja. Ninja only for MCQs and SIMS, its my first time using it. I actually dont remember much as I took it back in April… that or I'm just getting old haha

@Famh110 – Good to see you here again, but sad and happy to see you leave this group! Studying for REG was just as time consuming as studying for FAR due to its sheer amount of materials, but if you like more hands on problems (e.g. using the concepts/laws to calculate numbers), then you should have no issues with studying for REG. REG is one of those topics where if you put in the time, the exam will be very fair to you. Also, doing the MCQs for REG help a lot. However, the SIMs on my REG exam were very tough so don't skip out on practicing SIMs on your review course for this section.

@Allsheneededwassome – Yeah – I used both Becker and Ninja MCQs for AUD first time, but now I'm just using Becker.

Taking audit on Friday, bugging about certain Disclosure/Adjustment related AUD topics… For example if a MAJOR customer declares bankruptcy, what would be the adjusting entry??? I thought you would Dr. Allowance for Doubtful Accounts, and Cr. AR, but the TBS says you Dr. Bad Debt Expense, and Cr. ADA… what am I missing?

@CPAimless I believe its DR. bad debt exp and CR. ADA because you are writing off the account rather than estimating how much you're not getting back. Since the customer declared bankruptcy, you know you're not getting that money back. Sucks this exam incorporates FAR journal entries… I thought we were done with that 🙁

@allsheneed..Thank you! I will definitely keep you all posted. I had it planned to take it a week earlier but things happened and studying got delayed so had to postpone the exam for a week. I really hope I did well enough to pass! Took 6 weeks and did hard core sims the last week as I scored weaker in SIMS and stronger MCQs. One thing that I did that was super helpful was 2 hours before heading out to the Prometric center, I looked at all the flowcharts in the revenue, expenditure, and inventory cycles. I wanted to double check at the little things that could be asked for a segregation of duties type of mcqs and low and behold i had a entire sim on one of the cycles! yippee!!!

@Big4Bean..Thanks for info. How long did it take you to prepare for Reg and did you supplement Becker with anything? Between, I only used Becker as well for audit this time.

@4matic…i was also stronger in mcqs and weaker in sims and weaker in that section that accounts for 40% of the grade…so what i did was i straight went to that material and gave myself 2.5 weeks or even a little more to cover that material and then i once i understood the logic for it, i went to the rest of the materials which is relatively easy to grasp. don't write out stuff you already know, fly through it. only write stuff you don't know. do as many sims as you can. i did like close to 50 a week before my test and with that i found the sims on exams very time consuming so you need to practice sims so you know what techniques to apply.

@Famh10 what review did you use to study? I'm looking at my ninja stuff and I don't see any cycle information.

@Famh110 – I studied for about 7 weeks for REG, and I used only Becker to prepare for it.

A week away from my AUD retake…trending 90% on Ninja and about 200 questions left to see…I've read the ninja notes 2x, planning to read it at least 2x again…for my first take I used Roger only, this time I'm using Roger + Ninja…any sucess stories using those 2 to make my afternoon better??
