pharaohParticipantHi all,
I passed 2 parts of the CPA long time ago and then went out of the accounting world for few years and never finished. And here I am back again and I want to finish the 4 parts this time. I am happy to see this forum and how helpful and encouraging y'all (I live in Texas lol) to each other.
I got gleim and just started couple of weeks ago. My brain is a little rusty and little slow and not sure if I can make it by end of May. Crossing my fingers

@ladybossxo – thanks for the help!!!!! I'm so glad you wrote that because I'm done with A1 and moving on to A2.
@wannabe_cpa – I'd like to know how to apply Becker to NINJA. Any luck finding that information? I e-mailed Jeff a while back, and I think he just ignored my e-mail lol

TreMemberHi all, just started with my studies for Audit (5/30) as I try to finish up with this busy season and fit in a little studying of FAR as that is only 8 weeks after my Audit test. I hated my auditing class in college, the teacher was the stereotypical accountant (dry, lack of social skills) but need to pass these 2 tests now with a baby on the way in August. I look forward to the camaraderie and support. I would like to know if this is one that I can study for like I did with BEC and REG where I read through the materials and then spent 3-4 weeks of just MCQs with taking notes on the ones I missed? Will this be effective with this test?

CPA2B_NJMember@Tre – congratz on the baby π Welcome. I just finished reading the first chapter of Becker, so I don't know much but I can tell you that it feels very different from the other exams. I don't feel like the rules are black and white. It's more logical then anything. I went through some MCQs and it felt like all 4 answers were correct, except one is the rightest lol . I'm having a hard time from the get-go. Maybe more seasoned AUD takers can enlighten us both.

ruggercpa2bParticipantTre you can definitely read through the materials and then focus on MCQS. Audit is tricky so as many questions as you can do before your exam would help you out a lot. Your alloted time for just MCQs is plenty.
Good luck!

trish_1234Member@ Tre and jimmy nice having you guys join in!
Although everyone learns differently, from what I have read in this forum and my experience with failing at (69) Auditing requires a lot of MCQ and SIM. The part of the exam that kills most people is the sims section. I think reading and banging out a lot of MCQ and sims is a good idea.

NoraUMemberI think the difference is if the matter is presented in FS: yes emphasis-of-matter, no other matter.
AUC706.05 For the purposes of generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS), the following terms have the meanings attributed as follows: Emphasis-of-matter paragraph. A paragraph included in the auditor's report that is required by GAAS, or is included at the auditor's discretion, and that refers to a matter appropriately presented or disclosed in the financial statements that, in the auditor's professional judgment, is of such importance that it is fundamental to users' understanding of the financial statements.
Other-matter paragraph. A paragraph included in the auditor's report that is required by GAAS, or is included at the auditor's discretion, and that refers to a matter other than those presented or disclosed in the financial statements that, in the auditor's professional judgment, is relevant to users' understanding of the audit, the auditor's responsibilities, or the auditor's report.

oceansisterMember@CPA2B- someone posted this earlier (but I can't remember who) , so the “credit” still goes to that awesome person π
“My understanding is the difference is the nature of the thing you are drawing attention to, for lack of a better term. With an emphasis of matter paragraph, you are highlighting something that is already disclosed in the financials properly, but you think it's so important you should tell readers “hey look at this”. Additionally, EoMPs usually deal with items that help user's understand the financial statements. You would see things like going concern, justifies changes in accounting principles, and significant related party transactions.
Other matter paragraphs typically deal with things not disclosed in the financials. OMPs help users understand the audit, auditor's report, or auditor's responsibilities. Here you would see things like usage restrictions placed on the audit report, mention of the predecessor auditor, and when only the current period in comparative financials has been audited. “

MartinParticipantGuys, i found a great simulation on (Internal Control Errors), the simulation is AUD Sim no. 13 on ninja. If you could answer those questions, you should be in great shape for that part of the exam, I cant post it here (can not copy/paste simulations).
