nicole2035MemberHow many times do you all pass through AUD?
Are you doing all the MC questions before moving on to the next chp? Or will you do that during your review?

ziebaParticipantNYC, you got this baby! Life is so, sooo good on the other side. Join me!! Katerina, qlad and the rest of the bunch, pulling for you too!
Nicole: pretty much. lectures and reading notes usually got me to 60-80% on first pass, I'd repeat and write down he rest in a notebook if there was something particularly confusing or foreign. I'd repeat these nuggets more than the first 60-80%.

BEACPAParticipantQlad,
Let me just summarize what you've done: (I put my comments in parenthetical)
first time around listened to each topic lecture in Becker and made detail notes also did the mcq for each topic along
(Sometimes too much time writing down notes can take away valuable time studying MCQs. Also, I personally have a bad habit of writing down a lot of notes but failing to review them on a regular basis. Make sure you review them on a regular basis – and I know it's boring. Take them with you everywhere)
Did the sims at the end near the exam…no practice exam ….got a 64
(When you study for the other sections, make sure you do the SIMS as you move through each topic, waiting until the end can cause overload. However, it's okay to do them towards the end if you've already did them once immediately following each topic.)
second time around…I did not listen to the lecture but just did all the mcq again along with sims..but once…did a lot of progress tests at the end from becker and wiley test bank (but did not finish wiley)…also did one of the practice exam from becker…got a 71 with weak in mcq and strong in sims…
(After you finish the practice exams, make sure you go back over all of the questions you got wrong if you haven't already. Also, I suggest taking the 2nd practice exam to get exposure to new questions. Also progress test are good, but sometimes you end up working too many questions that you have already mastered. I usually do 1 or 2 progress test just to give me an idea where I stand. Then I spend most of my time reworking the MCQs I marked)
this time around…I first finished the wiley test bank…got avg 70s and some topics crossed 75s…someone in the forum suggested that the becker final review book is a good source of notes ….so I read the book and wrote the notes again…I had to take a break during the long weekend of july 4th and did not touch the books at all….since yesterday I have lost my confidence that I can do it…I have 2 sets of handwritten notes and lots of practice done…but not sure how to use everything intelligently so I wud feel confident by 18th of july…thanks a lot for the help..
(I'd stop with the notes for now. Notes are good if you take small bite size notes each day and review them daily. However, doing them all at once isn't efficient use of your time. Not being critical my friend, this is just my own personal opinion, it worth what you pay for it. lol. I strongly suggest that you just keep knocking out the MCQs (only the ones you've marked) and make sure you understand the answer. However, don't spend too much time trying to figure something out. That is, you could spend 30 minutes trying to figure out one question or you could spend 30 minutes understanding 10 questions. You're better off to move on and understand the 10 questions.) (Make sure you knock out the second practice exam because it contains questions you haven't seen before as well as a SIM you haven't seen before. I know it's hard to stay motivated at this stage of the game, but you can do it!) (Use your own discretion, but I'd toss the notes for now and stay focused on MCQs.) (When you're tired of MCQs, the review the text book – not a intense review – just a cursory review of the areas that tend to slip you mind.) Also, if you're really finding it hard to study, watch some of the lectures again – only the ones that you need to reinforce. For me, I reviewed the lecture on Transaction Cycles, because it covered a lot a different areas. Okay, you have 9 solid days to study and one full weekend! Take 1 or 2 hours to prepare a plan and stick to it. Preparing a plan helps you to see the finish line. Kick A$$! Good Luck!

PumpkinsMemberHey guys,
How do you keep motivation up going straight from one test to the next? I took AUD on Saturday and I'm trying to start studying for BEC but it's so hard.
That was my first time taking any CPA exam so not knowing how I did is going to kill me. I need either a pass or fail score for study motivation. I'm trying to gauge how I did but it's just impossible!

GabeParticipantHey all! I've been studying like mad this past couple of days, doing well on all test banks. I take it tomorrow, so I'll be sure to report back with my experience (without violating any rules 😉 ) Happy studying!

AnonymousInactivePumpkins- the first one is the hardest because you really have no idea how to gauge it. I take about a week off between taking an exam and studying for the next part. That allows me to get some stuff done around the house and to just do nothing. However, I see that your BEC is scheduled for about 6 weeks out and I certainly needed all 6 weeks to study.
I can guarantee however that if you get a passing score on AUD, that will really light a fire under you! 🙂

TarheelgirlMemberHey guys!
I just took FAR yesterday. Glad that one is over and pray I will get my first pass! Now on to AUD because I heard this one is good to take right after FAR. Look forward to feedback from any questions I may have and hopefully knock this one out this quarter too!
Good Luck in everyone's studies and anyone who has exams this week!

vmedin2Membercan someone help me understand this question, i think that the wording is getting the best of me
An accountant compiles unaudited financial statements that are not expected to be used by a third party. The accountant may decline to issue a compilation report provided:
I. Each page of the financial statements is clearly marked to restrict its use.
II. A written engagement letter is used to document the understanding with the client.
III. A written representation letter is obtained from the client's management.
I II III
a. Yes Yes No
b. No Yes No
c. No No Yes
d. Yes No Yes
July 9, 2014 at 2:53 pm #592897
GabeParticipant@Vm A is the correct answer. If you're compiling a report that is NOT expected to be used by a third party and you don't want to prepare a compilation report than it should be restricted to use and you should have an understanding with management about what you are doing. However, you would NOT need management rep letter because they are not required for comps.
