An auditor has audited the financial statements for X company for year ended 12/31/17. On 11/29/17, the company caught on fire and all financial records have been destroyed. There is no backup for the records.
What type of opinion should be given? Thanks.

Based on the dates provided here, you're going to be looking at a disclaimer of opinion. If all financial records are destroyed before year-end, there is no way an opinion can be reasonably expressed.
