Smbundy13Participantwhat does everyone do to review for the test?? I am sitting on friday (20th) and have gone through becker several times.. making good grades on the final reviews. I do have the Wiley test stuff and have gone through a bunch of those questions.
I am just trying to stay fresh. I plan on reading through my becker book and looking at the little passkeys to try to absorb a bit more info..
I am struggling right now but it should be better tomorrow because busy season will be over for me and I am taking the rest of the week off to study / relax before the exam…

KassiusKlayMember@Smbundy13 exact same situation here. Although I am taking audit on Thursday. I took a progress test on Becker, and basically have been doing 90 mcq prog tests every so often. I know this sounds redundant but I reset the SIMS and do them again and again. Not sure what works for you but I guess you could try and focus on what parts of audit you are having trouble nailing. For me that was Audit Procedures by Revenue Cycle and all the little nuances/difference between comps/reviews, issuers/nonissuers, GAGAS/GAAS, and remembering a few ratios. My plan for tonite is to hand write out notes on all these sections and then review them tomorrow and Wednesday. Also reading through the whole book may be helpful once but I wouldnt re-read the whole book over and over again. Your short term memory will be nuts haha.
Form is temporary, class is permanent.

wazy121MemberUsing CPAExcel to study. I feel confident on Multiple Choice Questions for the most part. But the simulations I'm all over the place on. I take the test saturday and feel like more score will depend on if I get lucky with the simulations or not. Just got an 81% on practice exam today, but yesterday I got like a 69% I'm going to take a practice Wiley Exam though as I haven't dealt with their questions really, so that should give me a better look at how I'll do. This is my first exam, pretty nervous.

KeelyMemberDo you guys recommend Wiley Test Bank to supplement my Audit study? I used it for BEC and found it to be worth the money. Most of the questions were the same as Becker, but there were a few that weren't covered in Becker that were on my exam which I wouldn't have known otherwise.
Now I'm studying for Audit and wondering if I should go the same route again. Does Wiley TB have SIMs? I feel like that's where I need my most practice since I started with BEC and am completely unfamiliar with simulations.

AnonymousInactiveAm I the only one? I keep reading the questions and they seem to be the exact opposite of what I think they are asking. I'm getting a little frustrated. Anyone using yaeger for AUD? I have been working through module 2 and Gary went over the beginning of the chapter and then did ALL the MCQ & SIMS without covering those areas. Is this whole AUD section going to be like this? I can't answer these questions without reviewing the material first. He kept going over questions about an engagement letter, when he didn't even address it. What do people do in AUD with Yaeger?

rch108Member@Dualmatrix: Its not important to learn those flowcharts. But its very important to understand 1) the process 2) controls over the process 3) how to test these controls. I personally feel that solving lot of questions will give you better idea and you may want to re-look at those flowcharts and if you are able to understand the flow with much more clarity you would be fine.
@ Ashley: I used Becker for AUD. I faced somewhat similar problems initially. I kept writing the answers that i missed. Also tried to figure out why my answer is wrong. After all the drill i noticed significant improvement when i revisited the questions. I think our brain starts thinking in more analytical way once we practice (in case of AUD).

OUCPA84MemberTaking AUD at the end of the month.
I have CPA excel self study, videos, mcq's, books, flashcards etc
Should I be:
reading the book (no note taking) then doing the proficiency Q's taking notes on wrong answers
then taking the Exam questions and taking notes on wrong answers
or
Should I be reading the book and taking notes then doing
the proficiency Q's taking notes on wrong answers
then taking the Exam questions and taking notes on wrong answers
I feel like i don't retain anything by just copying the book. My brain just switches into copy mode and not thinking.
Thanks

wcarson89Member@OUCPA94,
I'm using CPA excel as well. I'd recommend reading the book and then waiting a day or two to take the questions (the EQ's) on that topic. This way you will see what stuck and what didn't. Taking the questions right after reading will inflate your confidence on the subject. Take notes on the questions you missed or you may have guessed correctly. I don't find the PQ's very helpful as no true-false questions are on the CPA exam. They may help you with the topics you are struggling with though.
With CPAexcel, one of the best things is the explanation at the end for why every question is right or wrong. I made a word document to copy and paste all the explanations I thought were useful. I ended up with 20 pages of notes that I didn't have to spend time typing out or writing. Taking detailed notes on every topic in the book is a waste of time in my opinion. Spend time on what you don't understand.

OUCPA84MemberYea, after reading then doing the PQ's then doing the exam questions it's easier to do well. Although a lot of the questions are, to me, on stuff not presented in the video lecture or reading. So I've been taking the exam questions in study mode, writing down why the questions are correct, if i got it right or wrong, then taking the questions in exam mode.
The next day, i finish what the schedule tells me then I complete the diagnostic on the stuff i worked on the previous day and address areas of weakness.
