@Tristan – I'm pretty sure I had the same SIM as you then. When I saw the subject of it, I was like holy #*#) b/c that topic wasn't even tested on my FAR exam. But I was able to find most of the answers to it in the research tab and it turned out to be one of my easier SIMS.

My FAR experience sounds exactly like yours. I was pretty certain I failed and was beyond shocked when I saw my score. I kept asking my husband to make sure it was an 8 I was seeing and not a 6.

I feel a little better about Audit than I did FAR, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Some of the MCQ's were obscurely worded so I hope I interpreted them right.

Did anyone do the Becker Sims for AUD..It's very heavy on financial ratios? Are financial ratios worth studying at this point if you don't know them? Esp. since SIMS have been categorized as impossible?

Also Journal Entry's? I haven't had FAR yet so I haven't brushed up on these in a while..also just started A5 lecture…need to finish that and A6 by tomorrow evening for exam…really freaking out. Got so caught up in A4 and fell way behind

REG – 2/04/2012 – 75 (by the skin of my teeth)

    AUD – 2/29/2012 –

    FAR – waiting to schedule

    BEC – waiting to schedule

It's interesting to see those of you who feel “borderline” coming out of the exam (not to mention undergoing sincere anxiety), then out of nowhere – you bust out a score in the mid 80s or even 90s.

I'm not trying to be a jerkface here. I'm just trying to have some honest discourse about what is helpful in prepping for the exam. Those of you who have the time (and interest) in devoting months to each portion or those of you who have the intellect/experience to knock this thing out of the park, well good on ya. I think the majority of us are looking for efficiency here (the “alpha” risk for the nerds in the room).

    Hey you guys.

Just took AUD yesterday. The MCQ uggg, I felt like I did “ok” on each testlet but of course each testlet went from one-phrase question to one-word questions. I must have done SOOOO bad on them. So I pretty much blew my chances here as it is worth 60% of the grade.

The sims were actually better than expected because there weren't those horrible topics I wasn't good at but what sucks is that none of my sims really had answers in the research tab. UGh.

To top it all off, I came out of the exam and immediately got my BEC score. That was a fail (73).

I am so tired of this, I feel so stupid. Plus I found out your employers can know how many times you've taken each test so that is pretty much horrible to me.

Ugh anyways, sitting at the airport waiting for my flight back to France and needing to vent. Thank God this forum exists!!!

@cheer-Cant say I feel the same way! I wish I did.

Both my previous attempts resulted in 74’s where I was weaker in almost every MC category but stronger on the Sims which seems to be the opposite of most other people.

Took it for the 3rd time Monday. Nailed the sims again and thought I was doing solid on the MC’s until I hit the 3rd testlet and it was by far the easiest of any testlet I’ve ever had.

I know this isn’t a good sign but I don’ t know how much I should read into it. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and still got a decent score?

    FAR 85
    BEC 85
    REG 70, 72, 84
    AUD 74, 74, 94

Welp, I survived. It really wasn't so bad. First testlet was easy basic questions, the second was a little more detailed and the third was definitely the hardest and burned my eyes. I had two hours left going into the Sims which was just enough. The sims weren't really too bad, I just hate that they give you so many options that are so similar to one another! Nailed the research and think I got at least partial (if it exists) on the rest of them. I tried to literature tab for the ones I didn't know but it wasn't so successful. I learned the trick that doing an ADVANCED SEARCH is your friend! It really whittles down all the stuff you don't want. Ended the exam with 16 minutes left and a fried brain. Lets wish for good news!

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED

Just took the AUD exam yesterday. All 3 MC testlets seemed pretty easy, I hope it was due to my knowledge of the material. I did find more questions left blank for each testlet, indicating that perhaps they were getting harder. The simulations kicked my butt though. I know I got 3 out of 7 100% correct but the other four…… Some of the questions and scenarios they test are close to impossible. So vague and too many viable options. I am afraid that my lack of experience in the “real world” will hinder my ability to succeed in the simulations. Good luck to everyone waiting for there scores.

@jshleif–I felt the same way as you did. My MCQ's seemed surprisingly manageable…with that said, I wasn't sure if it was because I knew the material or simply because I was sucking on the prior testlets. Like everyone else has said–we'll wait and see, I guess…

Hello! I've been reading about how people have been spending a lot of time studying for BEC or other sections and for some reason, did not do well on the exam. I can only offer from my own experience, and this approach does not work for everybody. I've been using Gleim Book and Testprep software for my study and studied a lot and was lucky to pass both BEC and AUD on my first attempt. I can't afford the expensive $2,000 plus Becker program and had a Master in Accounting so I opted for just a book and a testprep software from Gleim.

Before I decided to take any exam, I took the Gleim Diagnostic Quiz first for all four sections. I scored the best on BEC, followed by a tie of AUD and REG, and did the worst on FAR so I decided to study for BEC in which the section that I feel the most confident in passing. Based on my research from Becker, the program recommends that Accounting students should take FAR first because it's relatively fresh in your minds. However, after speaking with Gleim personal counselor, the rep suggested that it's best to take the part that you're most confident in passing in order to build confidence.

I was finishing my last semester when I studied for AUD and spent 3-4 days studying the audit reports like crazy. I discovered that studying the audit reports help me in terms of identifying independence for different audit reports and identifying services such as compilation, attestation, etc. I also did all of the TBS in the Gleim book and did not scored a 75% on those on my first attempt. Gut-feeling guessing is also another part on the CPA exam that I've learned to acquire because some of the questions are just seemed like out of nowhere. Just my 2c!

    Just don't give up!

Yeah. I'm holding my breath on this one. I thought the AUD MQs were all over the place. The SIMS were mostly manageable. When I passed REG the material was harder each testlet and the SIMS killed me. I'm hoping this is one is just over.

Best of luck to everyone! I'm voting a March 7 release.

    BEC - Done!
    REG - Done!

I just failed Audit for the 2nd time with the same exact score..71. The 2nd time I took the exam, I finished an hour earlier. I didnt feel like studying more could have helped with the exam at all. I thought I knew the material. It doesnt make much sense to me how I could get the same score the 2nd time, considering that I finished an full hour earlier. At this point, I dont even know what to study anymore..I used Becker to study both time. Any advise???? both times that I took the exam i felt like the sims killed me. Please if anyone has had a similar experience let me know. any advice would be appreciated! I will loose credit for BEC in June…I still have Reg to take and now AUD also 🙁

    BEC: 54,76 (Credit expires 6/30/2012)
    FAR: 80
    REG: 5/12/2012
    AUD: 71,70, (5/31/2012)

@Irum0505 I'm sorry about that! I'm sure you'll get it the next time around! =) I think the problem is the Becker material. Don't get me wrong. I think Becker is fantastic. It helped me pass all 4 parts. But after a while you get used to all the questions and before you know it you've memorized a lot of the MC questions. I think using the Wiley online test bank will help you out.

    BEC: 71, 75 (expired), 81
    REG: 58, 64, 77 (expired), 80
    FAR: 63, 55, 72, 80
    AUD: 64, 61, 69, 71, 80 (expired)
Waiting for AUD (02/27/2012). If pass I am done. I have been on this journey for YEARS (with a year and a half break in between to deal with other issues).
