redsox0407ParticipantSo, I work in taxes, but luckily am on a rotation that does not have a tax compliance busy season. Since I'm taking audit tomorrow, I've been trying to convince myself that the only people taking the exam during this period are non-auditors. Any chance that means we will get a higher scale since our exams for this period are scaled against non-auditors?
REG: 73 73 79
AUD: 64 64
BEC: 11/30
FAR:February 28, 2012 at 2:16 am #374154
AnonymousInactiveI took Audit today. The SIMS were brutal – no way I could have studied for them. Luckily I got the research question relatively quickly. There were lots of obscurely worded MCQ's. I don't know why they have to word questions the way they do. Why not just be direct in what your asking for? Just like happened in FAR, there were some areas I thought would be heavily tested that only showed up in a question or 2.
I'm not going to say I'm certain I didn't pass because my FAR score is proof that you can't tell how you did. It's going to be a long wait til next week.
Good luck to everyone testing tomorrow and Wednesday. Please report back and let us know how it went!

theattackMemberFirst time poster, just joined yesterday. Took my first exam yesterday – AUD (actually I sat for REG about 8 years ago, that's another a story for another day). Agree with apbandj, the SIMS were absolutely brutal. I actually thought the MCQ's were ok, at least I hope so b/c I'm gonna need almost perfect to pass.
AUD - 87 2/27/12
REG - 5/31/13
FAR - 82 2/27/13
BEC - 84 8/30/12February 28, 2012 at 5:25 pm #374156
AnonymousInactive@theattack-welcome to this crazy forum! Good luck with your test!
I sat yesterday too. My mcq's weren't that bad. Too bad I just didn't study more. I feel like the material was familiar for the most part. I missed a few simple ones-I know because I looked in my notes when I got home. I just drew blanks and couldn't remember.
I didn't think my testlests were getting harder unfortunately. They were all moderate which makes me think I didn't pass. It was similar to my FAR test and I ended up with a 74.
Now for the SIMS-they really weren't THAT bad. Just one I really struggled with. I used the research tab for a few of the others. It definitely would have been harder for me if I hadn't studied FAR first.
Overall, I feel like I got 50% of the test right! SAD! I don't know how that translates to points. But let's put it this way-I haven't put my books away yet!!

Kris10MemberI took AUD yesterday as well. I thought the MCQs weren't so terrbile, but some of the SIMS were nothing like what I had seen in the Wiley books or test bank. I've only taken REG and BEC so far, which have only been 3 hrs and I used almost every minute of it. The extra hour for AUD really threw me off. I felt like I had so much time left and it got to the point I was just second guessing myself on just about all the sims. Did anyone else feel this way too?
BEC - PASS
REG - PASS
AUD - PASS
FAR - PASSFebruary 28, 2012 at 7:58 pm #374158
PeanutParticipantExact same experience as all of you… Ugh those SIMs >:O I used every drop of time… and like @Kris10 I just kept going back and changing everything!! I changed so many things on that exam. I'm not feeling positive AT ALL about this exam…
AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58February 28, 2012 at 8:11 pm #374159
nashville79MemberOkay, took Audit two days ago. I solely used Becker. I watched the lectures, worked through the homework and the sims. I didn't spend as much time “learning” the material/memorizing as I would have liked to given my travel schedule for work, etc. A majority of my time was spent going through as many MC as possible. All that being said, I feel like I had put in a fair amount of time – especially for someone who has a life outside of this ridiculous hurdle.
Here's how it went down two days ago: 1st Testlet – VERY manageable, 2nd Testlet – A bit more difficult (which I'm guessing is a good thing), 3rd Testlet – more like the 1st testlet questions (which I'm guessing is not a great thing). I feel like the Becker HW questions were effective in prepping me for the MC. I had an hour and a half going into the SIMS, which should be more than enough time. Research was manageable, but the remainder were much more challenging than I anticipated – PLENTY of half-witted guessing involved. Realistically, I don't know what I would have done to prepare more for the SIMS.
I've read through the forum and, for the most part, I feel like most folks agree with the nature of the SIMS. Any thoughts or ideas for better ways to prep for the SIMS? Or, anyone have a similar experience? I'd like to hear how you scored. Don't worry – I'm not one of those folks that has nightmares about this exam and spends two months/countless hours preparing and busts out a 90+ after prepping for an unrealistic period of time. I had a similar experience with BEC and got a 75…..

HustlinHustlinMemberJust took my first simulated exam. a 68% – yuck. For those of you who have taken the exam in this window, how were you doing on the MCQ's?
I want to keep going until I'm in the 80's and then take the final exams. @Peanut, I feel confident for you! I know you were scoring really well and even did great on the AICPA questions which is a good sign since there's no risk of seeing something you have a memorized answer to.
I'm off to apply for my passport while I can take advantage of my day off from work and when I get back these simulated tests are going to get it!

HustlinHustlinMemberWell, got a ticket for riding the RT without a ticket, got off far from my stop out of frustration, and then after all that, the post office apparently doesn't take pictures for passports. FML!!! Currently on my 26 block walk home. Gotta keep reminding myself life could be worse…. And take this anger out on this exam!

TristanMemberJust took AUD, the SIMS were ridiculous like everyone says, one a DIFFICULT FAR topic that is barely covered which I'm assuming had to be pretest. I think only someone with years and years of audit experience could get it right. Does anyone have any theories on if they give partial credit on research TBS's? I think i may of been one paragraph number off but pretty sure in the right section/area. Makes me sick thinking about it because as I was about to change it, I ran out of time and the test closed. Guess it's just a waiting game now. Goodluck to everyone else!

February 29, 2012 at 12:37 am #374165
AnonymousInactivewell since everyone says to make use of the research tab thats what im going to try and do…i've been working so many research questions im getting them right everytime..hopefully that helps..still havent really completed a 5….i dont know whats wrong with me..its my last one..you think i would want to be finished but at least I can retake within a month if things do go as planned –ugh..so mad at myself…
February 29, 2012 at 2:04 am #374166
TristanMember@apbandj – It wasn't calculating anything, but it was a complex financial topic that you basically had to utilize professional judgement on in order to answer. I would bet 99.9% chance what they wanted is not covered in any exam review material out there. The rest of the sims i think were hard but reasonable, i think i may of done better on some if i was an auditor with experience under my belt. I'm praying for a miracle! I swore i failed FAR when i took it but somehow i passed it so we'll see. Sometimes i feel like this exam is like rolling the dice.
