StewieParticipantCanson16,
According to my review program (Kaplan), the biggest change in almost 30 years will take place with the AICPA's Accounting and Review Standards. We were told that, if we were taking the test before June 1 (July 1, actually since June is a down month) just focus on the material as it is now. If you are planning on taking the exam after July 1, wait for the changes to be soon released.
This is why I love Kaplan, because they handle what is required and needed. I have never worried about not understanding what is on the exam. If you go to the AICPA website, there is the Uniform CPA Examination Alert. This will detail what is going to change. Just go to the following site: https://www.cpa2biz.com/AST/Main/CPA2BIZ_Primary/PRD~PC-EXAMALERT/PC-EXAMALERT.jsp. If this does not work, just got to the AICPA site and search for the Uniform CPA Examination Alert and it should pop up. It is free, but they make you go through the shopping cart proceedures.
Good Luck,
Stewie

StewieParticipantActually, after looking at it, it did not look as good as I once thought. Unfortunately, it seems that the newest edition is Spring 2010. I tried to find a newer edition, but I did not succeed.

I'm using Wiley and CPAexcel as well. I've written out a study guide for myself to make sure that I finish the topics on time. I have six weeks, so my study schedule looks something like this. I could have the 2 module weeks mixed up a little bit since I don't have my actual plan with me right now. Basically I've picked the larger modules to have a week, and I pack two into one week if they are smaller chapters.
Week 1: Modules 1 & 2
Week 2: Module 3
Week 3: Modules 4 & 5
Week 4: Module 6
Week 5: Module 7 & 8
Week 6: Review – Ninja, CPAexcel exam tutor, and Wiley practice exam
I read a module, then do the questions at the back of the module (sometimes I read part of a module and then do part of the questions, then go back to reading if the module is really long). I also do at least a few of the sims. When Wiley recommends actually reading the AU on a topic, I do. Then I do the corresponding questions in CPAexcel and if I'm getting a lot wrong, I review the material for that section in CPAexcel. I'm also taking notes and making flash cards. I feel pretty good about it so far. In my last week, I am going to use the Ninja notes to review the important topics.
If I passed REG (took on 4/15) and I pass this on 5/27, I'll be done! Just the thought of it is like a dream!!!!

AnonymousInactiveAlright is it just me, or is Yaeger audit DULL?
I have taken two parts BEC (2/2011- passed) and REG last week. I used Yaeger and it was frankly good, even interesting. Now on to AUD sleeping from boredom. Perhaps he is a good teacher and I will do just fine, but at what cost? Brain void?
I get this feeling that he is thinking hey, you know this, it is obvious why am I teaching you? All of course in mono tone.
I don't feel like I am not learning it I feel dulled to death by this guy.

StewieParticipantI just completed my AUD exam yesterday, and I feel about the same that I did last time, when I took REG, so I hope that I will do well. I received a lot of advice from people online here and I want to say that it is all true. One thing that I will admit, prepare well and we all can pass.
annette1,
I hear you. Many instructors in AUD seemed to be SOOOOOO BORING! Perhaps it is the material, I don't know. I remember that I took individual tax from a lady whose full time job was a tax lawyer. She was passionate and it showed that she loved what she did. I have to admit that the review teacher I had for AUD this time was very good at what she did. If I pass, she will have a big part in it.
Good Luck to all!

jejohns721ParticipantIf modules are graded as you complete them and adapted to your level of correct answers, why does it take so long to get the grades back? It still boggles the mind why you cannot walk out of the testing center with your grade in hand. No one believes me when I tell them I took AUD on April 22nd and should receive my grade the last week of June.

kandisjoyParticipant@ Jejohns721 – I think this is what all CPA candidates wonder. I posted that question on goingconcern.com and Adrienne/”Jr Deputy Accountant” completely ignored me. The closest thing that she did to answering me was saying that basically the long score release process makes you really “want” the CPA certification…. which I think is a ridiculous cop-out of an answer.
Here's what she said:
“From the score release to the waiting for applications to be approved, payment coupons, your NTS… this isn't something to be taken lightly. As you said, it is an intentional barrier to the profession. I don't see anything wrong with that and hope they can continue that for the indefinite future.”
Uh….ok? Thanks for nothing.

StewieParticipantIn answering the previous question, it is related to the raw number of what you received on the previous section. I also happen to agree with kandisjoy that an answer that intentionally delaying is to make it worth more is UNSAT.
However, from what I am reading with what was posted, it seems that the author is saying that the entire process is a barrier to entry, which I also agree, I don't have a problem with that. Go to a phone book and look up lawyers. Unless you live in Abilene, TX, (where churches ou tnumber lawyers) they will likely have the largest section. We really don't want the CPA profession to become like that.
Let me be clear, while I am in favor of barriers to entry to the CPA profession, I am ABSOLUTELY against delaying the results of a test, which was taken after accomplishing success to the barriers. The unnecessary delay of score release for some sick desire to make people suffer longer to make it worth more, does not serve the profession.

I agree completely. While I appreciate the barriers to becoming a CPA and the “elite” status it gives at times, dragging out the scoring process does nothing for any of us.To me, it does nothing more than make me a little suspicious of the entire process.

kandisjoyParticipant@ stewie – What advise did you get that helped? What's part of the “all true?” I'm taking AUD on May 27th and any advice would be appreciated.

StewieParticipantSee what auditd0rk posted. That was what I was really refering to concerning the advice. I was also refering to posts that people have posted on the other rooms. I did about 2000 questions over a period of 7 weeks. I have to say that completing MCQ was the main point of feeling good. I felt really confident with the questions. I may not do well, but I did feel that the questions was the best way to go.
I was happy with Wiley's description concerning the topics of internaitonal standards. Kaplan did not really go into it and is deferring until more of the questons are on the exam.
Just stay focused and remember what I said earlier about learning about how you learn.

yankeeaccountantParticipantHellooooo out there!!
Just came back from Audit. As usual, not really sure how I did overall. The second and third testlets were harder, they certainly got wordier. I finished the exam with an hour left–not sure if that is good or bad. I reviewed the first testlet for the 6 questions I marked for review, but then the second and third testlets, I reviewed all questions. I changed one answer, but that was it, I know I usually run into trouble on that, by that I mean I usually have it right then change it to the wrong answer.
I had 6 questions in each testlet that came down to two answers…hoping I guessed right or that some of them were pretest. The sims weren't as bad as I had anticipated. I had two that I wasn't completely comfortable with. One of them I think I guessed ok, the other one was just plain old guessing. The research questions are always hard for me, but this timeI think I got it.
Hope you guys are doing well….

AnonymousInactiveHad my audit exam today. Felt as though I did well on the m/c, but absolutely terrible on the sims. I don't understand where they got the sims from, as my review course (becker) failed to cover them. Has anyone else ever felt like they did really well on the m/c, awful on the sims (I was guessing on 5 of the 7 tabs), and still passed?
