Would you say Audit is the toughest of all CPA parts? I have no Auditing background.

    AUDIT Feb or Apr

AUD is boring me to tears!!

I'm probably going to schedule my showdown with AUD on 1/8/12 so that gives me 4 more weeks to study on top of the 2 I've already put in. I'm hoping to put in at least 120 hours of study time. I put in 130 for REG and it paid off.

Congrats on taming the beast……….especially with a 90……..and finishing. I pulled up my score

yesterday and could not believe I also got a 90, my highest score out of the four exams. It also helped working

as a auditor doing independent contractor work on my second go around with audit.

If you have not done ethics, I would suggest the book vs the cd. Most people whom did the book method said the questions flowed in order. I did the video which was not the case.

I think what helped me most was doing tons of mcq's and my own note cards. My toughest challenge was FAR since it had the greatest volume of material. All of the exams are challenging in the their own way.

    FAR: 65, 77

    REG: 77

    BEC: 75

    AUD: 90

Ethics: 93, Not as easy for me as others indicated.

Thanks OLE_WILLBE_CPA2! and congrats to you too. It feels great when it's done, over!!! I feel so complete and with a sudden high confident level that I'm thinking…maybe I'm gonna go for a CFA in a few years LOL!

Thanks for the info on the Ethics. I have not started yet and have not bought the material. I was asking in other thread about which one I should get: CD or the book. Taken from Becker material I used for the CPA, I prefer watching lectures and doing MCQs, and the MCQs was the key for me to be able to understand and grasp the concepts, so I never really looked at the Becker books (reading makes me more sleepy than watching). I thought I might have to buy the Ethic CD. Could you please tell me what is the advantage of questions being flowed in order over not?

I never have AUD background. I like FAR and was working in accounting for 5 years so I was pretty comfortable with FAR, though I got it lowest (80) of all 4. I did not prepare FAR well though due to its enormous volume. I remember finishing watching the last lecture and its MCQs just on the previous day going to the exam room. So I stayed up till 12am that night to read the 2011 Wiley Exam update (I used 2010 Becker version) while my exam was 12 am the following day. I was not ready at all because there was no review and redoing MCQs, but changing my exam date would cost $100, so I thought I would take the chance. Luckily I got 80, could not believe it either.

Next step is Ethics. I don't think it's gonna be a piece of cake for me!

First post on these boards… just got my results for my first attempt at a CPA exam section. I took AUD on 11/28 and got a 58. Studied for about 3 months. Felt pretty decent about it after I took it, too. Guess I have a ways to go to pass.

    boston_accountant,

Hang in there on Audit. The questions are very detailed and one word could throw the whole answer to it. I would suggest the Wiley software for practice questions.

    CPAExammom,

I can see why you did so well in FAR with limited studying. The advantage of questions flowing together is you can easily research questions you are unsure of and don't have to search. The CD does have a table of contents and search optiion but sometimes it takes a little time to find the info. I took another course required for my audit job and used the book which seemed easier. My initial thought process was its easier to learn with video lectures than book. However, with the main goal being to pass the test I would opt for the book.

On a personal note about me I was laid off from my non accounting job a few years back so went back to school

to finish accounting degree and CPA. I watch my son inbetween so i am like CPAExamdad, LMAO!

I too will be “lurking” around this site as you so eloquently put it :).

There are only 900+ AUD questions in the Wiley online test bank. I think I could get through those at least 3 or 4 times before my test in 4 weeks LOL!

I may actually need to supplement with something else so I'm not just memorizing questions.

Boston accountant im in the same boat….i took audit for the first time and got a 63. I studies with becker and thought I did ok and felt good after I took it too but I guess sometimes its just luck. Goodluck on your next round! Dont give up!

    AUD - 11/27/2011 63 worst feeling ever!
REG - 02/27/2012 58 horrible! didn't prep as well as first exam
    BEC - 03/02/2012 - 71 (my best score yet!)
    FAR - 05/18/2012 - 51

Using Becker review materials for all parts

Hey RedRage and everybody out there in Audit land!

    Back in Audit mode:(

Going to start rewriting notes then do all the Becker mcq's then head on over to Wiley. I agree with RedRage Audit is boring…but I would add that Audit is the work of the devil (I know I am repeating myself, just couldn't stop myself, this is what Audit does to me )
