katiekantonMember@ar_guy, my exam today didn't have much that would lead me to believe it's geared towards a staff at an audit firm. I had thoroughly studied audit risk, the relationships between risk and procedures, sampling, ISAs, reports, etc., but what I actually got was a ton of PCAOB-related stuff (hope I made that generic enough to not violate disclosure) that incidentally wasn't in my review material anywhere. I agree with someone above who said there's probably a bank of questions of about 1000, and you get a random 90 chosen with the “adaptive” testing model, and it's just the luck of the draw what you end up with.

TwinMOMParticipantCan anyone clarify what would make an audit question on the difficult level. Here's my problem…I took the test the 28th but I didn't feel like any of my testlets were more difficult per se. I mean I answered correctly over 1000 MCQs between Becker and Wiley and I didn't really see anything crazy different than the MCQs I was seeing before while studying. Thing is when I took REG, i could definitly tell they got harder because they were more time consuming calculation type or longer reading questions. This time, it was different….I didnt' get a feel for them getting any more difficult. Granted there were a few random type that were worded very awkward. Can anyone shed light on their experience with being able to tell when they got more difficult in audit?

MarsBarsMemberI took AUD yesterday. I spent about 1h 30min on MCs. That left about 2.5 hours for the Sims. I have no idea how I did. I was scoring in the in the mid to high 80s when I was doing the Becker Progress Tests. However when I was using the Wiley online test bank, I was scoring significantly lower. The first two MC sections were much more difficult than the 3rd. However, this has happened for the past three exams I took and I ended up with a pass so I'm not going to assume that I did badly on the first two testlets. I am now anxiously anticipating my score!
BEC: 71, 75 (expired), 81
REG: 58, 64, 77 (expired), 80
FAR: 63, 55, 72, 80
AUD: 64, 61, 69, 71, 80 (expired)
Waiting for AUD (02/27/2012). If pass I am done. I have been on this journey for YEARS (with a year and a half break in between to deal with other issues).

mzdimaMemberI wanted to ask who have passed or have taken the exam using Becker which section you found most challenging. I am in the process of mentally preparing myself how to tackle AUD. I am using Becker 2011, just started today and realized this is not as easy as what I had expected. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I3lackcellParticipantTrying to guess if your third test bank is harder is impossible IMO. The last time I took it I thought my 3rd was much harder but I ended up doing horribly on the MC and very good on the SIMS. This time I didnt even worry about it, but in hindsight it seemed like it wasnt that hard but that could be because I know the information better. Hopefully I pass this time cause REG expires mid January. I only have one more shot before the shit hits the fan if I failed this time.

AnonymousInactiveTook the exam yesterday, MCQ's weren't bad at all. I would would feel amazing about this if everyone else didn't think the same. SIMs were very very difficult. Two I had no idea what they were even asking, the words they were using were not in Gliem or Wiley MCQ's. Oh well, at least the wait isn't to bad. Good luck everyone!

js75Member@The_AmYam. Took AUD on Nov. 30. I totally agree with you. I felt like I'm taking another part of exam not AUD. SIM was very difficult except two of them. I have 2:30 hour when I stated on SIMs and used every minute to recheck my work. Not feeling well with this one. Hope I can pass it with 75 🙂 Good Luck Everyone!

Mike F.MemberI took AUD on Nov. 30th. I studied using Roger. I really like his style, but I only gave myself three weeks and don't really think that was enough time. I was literally viewing the last lecture the night before the exam. I rushed it in an attempt to get grandfathered in before the additional education requirements kick in.
My first testlet of MCQs wasn't too bad, but my head was spinning on the second and third. I got through the first four TBSs ok, but by the time I got to number 7, I could barely stay in my seat. I used every minute of the time allowed to complete the exam, which surprised me because I never had less than an hour remaining when taking the Wiley practice exams.
In hindsight, I definitely needed more time to prep and more MCQ practice……in order to get used to the wording. My fingers are crossed, but I'm not feeling too confident about passing this time.

GimmedacashMemberAUD Litterally bored me to tears. This was my last section to take and now all I know why people say this one is difficult. It is very hard to make it through the study materials without going to sleep. I honestly left myself 5 weeks to study but i would nod off in the middle of Becker's lectures and have to start all over again. I did that so much I finished the lectures 10 days before my test.

AnonymousInactiveWhat's the best way to prepare for simulations? Becker is obviously not working.
Also, where can I get the Gleim review book for 2012 without the software?
TIA

AnonymousInactiveI dont think there is anyway to really be 100% ready for the sims. Bottom line, just know the information inside out and hope that you get questions regarding the information. Just do not stress out and remember that it is just a test. That is the best advice i can give you.
I found that writing out my notes helped me because i retained more information then i actually thought.
But i would recommend getting Wiley Test Bank. It has good multiple choice and SIM practice.
