    Anyone have any suggestions for the “must know” material for AUD? Obviously there is no way to know for sure, but I felt like this board great at recommending to understand Gov./NFP for FAR and I know that helped me pass. I test on Nov. 30, any suggestions on material to hammer out these last few days?

    I agree with Cpaexammom, the words trace and vouch confused me a ton too–I DO think they put them in there to confuse—you have to read what the details are in the question.

    I hate the transaction cycle!!!! (still) I hope you had a good holiday and were able to get some good study time in. Best of luck to you on the 28th. My advice: make sure you know audit reports, compilations and review, and of course the dreaded t-cycle stuff! You can do it!!!! Kick some audit @ss 🙂

    Thanks hopeful_CPA, OLE for your kind comments 🙂

    I'm in the final review process: redo MCQs and if I forget something (lots of things) then I briefly watch the lectures. AUD is my worst enemy! I don't seem to register all the details for long. I often do well on the MCQs right after I finished the lectures, but when I go back to redo them a couple weeks later, things look like brand new to me again 🙁

    Good luck to you all! we can do it! It's a painful process I know, but it feels so good when you complete. I took about 3-4 months to prepare for each section. I often stay up very very late at night because that's pretty much the only time I can get away from my kids and house chores. And then have to wake up early in the morning prepare for my son to school. Very sleep-deprived and tired, and cranky and feeling like hell! I go very slowly, part of that because English is my 2nd language. One other things that I do…if I have problem understanding any concept, I Google to find the explanation, pictures, samples…Wikipedia has been a great source too 🙂

    bad news with REG… i'm redoing it in Jan… i know exactly what i did wrong and what my deal was (insomnia night before a 8am exam really sucks). i wont let it beat me again this time around.

    audit sucks too, it is finally making some sense to me a little.. but the cycles are terrible, and using what exammom says, not going by the wording of tracing or vouching makes sense.. its pretty shadddy (yes with 3 d's, thats how shady it is) that they would word the questions like that.

    i know the standard report inside and out and have yet to commit to memory the compilation and review report, it shouldnt be too difficult since the standard report went in pretty quickly.

    today is all mcq's and i'm going to do half of the cram tonight, other half of cram tomorrow, mcq and sims (finally, havent started yet), and review all the mnemonics so they all make sense and i know where they go. i am just barely touching on the audit with technology part, anybody think thats going to be a factor on the exam?

    oh shoot!!! i just remembered you took the exam 2 days ago!! how was it and how do you feel you did? i am going to stop answering that question because every time i think i did well i blow it… like reg.

    REG is the least passed exam out of all 4 exams this year. The concept was well over my head and questions on the exam threw me for a loop. Most of which I do not believe was covered in Becker's lectures. I am with you. Trying to find a way to get through REG. I didn't schedule yet but my NTS expires 1/18 and I have BEC on 1/6.

    AUD, I passed even without finishing the SIMS which the SIMS were completely not covered by Becker and I just was in awe. But MCQs I had but progressively became more complex.

    FAR I passed after missing all of Peter O's lectures. I couldn't get myself to understand this guy. Which was very brutal for REG. I just enjoyed FAR and Becker was very useful for AUD.

    Also believe college courses were my weakness. They focused a lot on FAR and AUD concepts (minus international). I had a ton of hands on. REG was briefly covered. And we focused solely on Ind taxation. Nothing about corp or s corp taxation were covered.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)

    I think you are gonna do well on audit. knowing the audit reports is so key. not just for the wording, but knowing what is supposed to be included and for whom, etc. I felt ok on the mcq's. I had 5, 5, and 7 mcq's marked on the testlets. I didn't really notice one testlet being more difficult, except that the last one I marked 7, so, maybe that was harder?! The sims were tough, can't sugarcoat that at all. All I can say, is that when you get a sims that isn't something you have directly seen, use the research tab and also extrapolate on the knowledge you have. I felt like I had to take what I studied and take it two steps further on some sims. so, I guess they are trying to see us apply the knowledge, not just “answer the questions”. I don't know how I did. Wish I could tell. I am sorry about REG. That exam is really tough. I don't know my score, too scared to see it before taking Audit and also I didn't want to ruin the holiday. I will check on Monday. I am not optimistic, just because.

    I think on any area that you don't go over just take a swipe at Roger's notes on that section–that should suffice. I am pulling for you–you have a great plan of attack–keep it up. You will kick some Audit @ss!

    @Yvonne

    I agree with you. I think REG is tough. I used Becker and the Yaeger cram and didn't think I got the whole picture. This last time, I got the Roger cram in the last week of review. I wished I had gotten it sooner. His cram was full of detail, and it was methodical in its approach. I don't know my score yet….hoping that I am passed it, but not super optimistic. Take a look at Roger on You tube and get a feel for his teaching style. I really liked it.

    honestly, if i wasnt so sleep deprived i would have passed the exam no doubt… the mistakes i made were sooooo stupid and i knew it when i walked out of the exam, remember? i got a 69 on it and it was for sure because of the things i KNOW i got wrong… thats the most frustrating thing about it. i should have scored higher on the sims, and i should have scored higher on entity tax… entity and ind tax were my jams!!! i know that stuff inside and out and to know i did comparable on one of them and weaker on the sims just drives me crazy. but at least i know what to work on now so that next time i'll knock it out god willing.

    i really hope i do well on aud… i took a few hours off because my brother, sis-in-law, and nephew are here so its 11:24pm pst and im going to get started again!! woo!!!!! what a way to spend friday night!!

    Yankee, thanks:) I will consider your advice. I am in dire need of any help there is for REG. Especially after spending 1000 dollars with Becker and no luck of even being close to passing.

    @hopeful,

    I think you are allowed to exchange e-mail about studying together, I think the forbidden is if you exchange email for the purpose of discussing the actual CPA exam (I think, I could be wrong though).

    i understand that, and that is not my intention at all. i just have some questions regarding understanding some of the material and emailing would receive quicker responses than having to wait for somebody to check the forums, you know?

    I have a question about cpareviewforfree.

    Should I purchase additional contents or free materials are good enough?

    Thanks!

    I never purchased the addl stuff, I just used the free items, mainly because I used the testbank in my final review week.

    @hopeful_cpa

    OK, tomorrow is game day. Kick some audit butt tomorrow!!! Be confident, you have studied hard, you can do it!!!! GL!
