I could punch that guy in his face sometime. Ugh!!! So much wasted time – my main complaint about Becker.

My husband is a firearms instructor at a police academy… I've already mentioned the fact that when I pass they can use all my becker cpa study materials for target practice! ha!

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!
    BEC - 81 (4x)

@Katie – See my post a few days ago about Bisk. Currently I am using the Classic version of Bisk for AUD & it is terrible. Not sure if you are using the Online or Classic. I used Bisk Online with the teacher for FAR & passed (combined with Jeff's notes here). The Bisk AUD Classic is all scrambled, jumping chapters in the lectures, this makes it really hard to study. What most people who review all study materials will tell you is to watch the video's first, this is the meat of the material, then answer the MCQ & SIM questions, then skim the text to add to your own notes. This is what I did for FAR & it seemed to work.

Bob M. with Bisk is a great teacher in the video's.

Quality (not quantity) hours = quality notes = quality review

@hacka75 Did you fill out and study the workbook?

One of my complaints is that so many of the sections (using the software) don't have any MCQ listed with them. Does this mean the information is too random or obscure to be tested on? I know the CPA is a mile wide and an inch deep. Is this information that they feel they have to put in there “just in case” to cover their butts but has very little chance of showing up on the exam?

Also, are you saying that with the other sections, Bob's lectures are aligned with the chapters? That's the thing that frustrated the crap out of me at first. I wasn't going to read parts of three different chapters hundreds of pages apart just to watch his lectures and skip around (especially since, again, I didn't have AUD in school, so am basically coming into this tabula rasa). I'd be so glad to know that that is an anamoly with AUD. I've already got the stuff for the other sections, so I'm not buying additional materials if I don't have to.

@Katie – The Classic version has nothing to fill out except for the questions at the end of each chapter. I ask them about this, because for FAR there were actual blanks ________ to fill in for the video's. Do you have blanks in your workbook?

    1. “Does this mean the information is too random or obscure to be tested on?” – I would say that if Bob does not talk about it & there are no questions relating to that section, I would scan it & make minimal notes. This is CYA by Bisk to an extent.

    2. “Also, are you saying that with the other sections, Bob's lectures are aligned with the chapters?” – Yes, exactly for FAR at least. That is the only other section I have taken. It was actually organized. I am in week 2 of AUD, & worked as an auditor for several years & am having difficulty following/ keeping things straight.

I would also watch purchasing Hot Spots from Bisk. I would call them and ask specifically ask “What % of new information is on the Hot Spot video vs the videos I have with the Online/ Classic version?” If your rep cannot answer, ask to speak with someone who does know. I had this problem with FAR, the Hot Spot vids were the exact same as the Online course. They acted like they had never heard that complaint before. Bisk ended up giving me free Hot Spots for upcoming sections.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

I would hammer the vids, then the SIMS (if you know the SIMS, it can only help with the MCQ), then the MCQ's, then additional info in the book. Other ppl will tell you different, just my $.02.

No, no blanks… I basically meant doing the questions and taking notes while watching the lectures. Blanks would be great!

    1. CYA – That's good news.

    2. Bob's Lectures – That's GREAT news.

Hot Spots – have no intention of purchasing those. I figured they wouldn't have anything that wasn't covered elsewhere and money's at a premium for me. I'm gonna know the vids, know the sims and all the MCQ before I walk in there. (The reading of the entire book was more for my own comfort since I needed the complete background.) That way, even though there might be stuff on the exam I didn't cover, I might still pass.

Don't you wish we Biskers had our own message board?

    Hey everyone,

I took the Aud yesterday and alot of mcqs r much much similar to becker, but since i did them only once, i was struggling a lil bit through mcqs, but definately recognized alot of questions from becker review. For SIMs, just what everyone else said, basic knowledge of JE is required, just know where the debits and credits are for accounts, that should be enough for JEs.

    Good Luck everyone !!

I take AUD on Monday….can someone tell me where I can find the text about tickmarks in BECKER 2011? or even which section? I feel like I didn't read anything on tickmarks but maybe just 1 page…

    good luck to everyone!

    @lynn,

I didn't get to this chapter yet, but it's in A4, page 6. Next time you may use back-of-the-book index 🙂

    Good luck on Monday!

@Katie, I really dont know how i did, because i did alot of guessing… it was lack of preparation on my part.

@Lynn, you can think of tickmarks as mcq question, but u r selecting more than one answer, e.g the question will state there is significant scope limitation so select your answer as to what type of opinion they will be issuing (so that will be one tickmark) 2nd, where the explanatory paragraph should be(that will be ur 2nd tickmark). I will try to look what SIMS in becker relate to tickmarks after work and will post it on here for you.

    ok, just curious about this….

I failed AUD in the last window with a 65.. got my score report back… overall Stronger on MCQs but weaker in Sims… how is that freaking possible? (not the weaker part, just the failing part)

for that to make sense in my head I would have to have gotten no credit for any of the sims, even though I answered every question with something…

    please enlighten me….. please…..

I just got out of my Audit and I am needing some interpretations! My first two testlets were not that bad. There were a couple of random, off the wall type questions. Overall I felt good about both of those testlets. The third testlet was really difficult. I was able to easily answer about half. The other half were educated guesses with a couple of Eni-Meeni-Myni-Mo… What does my progression mean? Any thoughts would be awesome!!

Also, three of my simulations were pretty easy, one was fairly difficult but I feel ok and the other two were excrutiating. I know they say a good sign is when testlet one is easy, two is harder and three is close to the same as the first.

Just took the AUD exam……. The multiple choice questions were very similar to what I saw during my preparation. But then came the SIMS!!! Man I was not well prepared for the SIMS and the research question I thought was way too general. Good Luck to everyone that is testing this window. At least we don't have to wait as long for the results.
