@katie – I think people generally overreact to the whole “there were FAR questions on my AUD exam.” If you understand how journal entries work and are comfortable at a high level with general financial concepts, you will be fine on AUD. I would recommend NOT postponing your AUD test and trying to study for two sections at once.

What are you using for review materials and how are you doing on the multiple choice questions? If you feel like you understand the concepts, I would keep the test as scheduled and give it a whirl. If you are totally lost, then you may need to make other arrangements.

Katiekanton – I agree with Minimorty in that you should probably proceed with your AUD test and not study for both tests at once. There is no way to know what your specific audit test will ask for and there is no way you can prepare yourself for every possible thing outside of audit. You should just do your best knowing every possible thing you can about audit and if you do happen to get a couple of FAR questions hopefully they will not determine your whole test. I don't necessarily agree with Minimorty about people overreacting about FAR questions being on their audit tests because it is a big deal when you experience it. All you can do is your best though and trying to add more topics to study may take too much focus away from audit and hurt you there.

I'm using Bisk. I didn't have Audit in school, so I have read every page of every chapter in the books, I have done the multiple choice questions, scoring in the 60's on the first go round, now I'm listening to the Bob Monette lectures and filling out the workbook. My plan is to go through all the MCQs again after that until I can answer every one.

The really complicated sampling equation is beyond me.

I'm going off the assumption that although obviously everything in the books is fair game, Bob's lectures are over what is typically tested on and if I know it and all the questions, I'll be fine. I hope that's not a bad assumption.

So have we heard anything about the out of left field questions being on anything other than bonds? I could review that chapter just to make sure without it costing me too much more time.

    FAR - 90

@katie – Nobody can disclose anything specific about their exams. I am not sure why you seem to be focused on bonds though. I wouldnt spend any time going over bonds. Focus on what the AUD content specific outline says and do not worry much about what you are hearing from other people. Just because some of the content between AUD and FAR is interconnected, sometimes overlapping, does not mean that you are not sufficiently prepared by reviewing only the AUD study materials. I know nothing about Bisk, so I cant speak to how well it prepares you for the exam. 60's on MCQ questions though means you should continue to focus on the material in the book. I wouldnt waste any precious time on “FAR” concepts until you are more comfortable with the materials in AUD.

Question for those of you using Becker materials for AUD. Whats your opinion on anciallary material. Is it worth the time studying and memorizing? Thanks.

@Minimorty Thanks for your advice and comfort. You've made me feel better. I was just focusing on bonds because everyone who has mentioned the FAR stuff cropping up mentioned them. I understand I could get something completely different.

The 60's on the MCQ were just the first time I took them, I'm up to high 90's now. I like Bisk, but one of my complaints with it is that often, when you answer wrong, the explanation gives you information that wasn't in the text (it's good to have it, but still), or the questions mention things that don't come up until later in the chapter (with the software, it puts MCQs at the end of every major section, but it frequently has them in the WRONG section) or even in later chapters you haven't covered yet. I feel really good about my AUD knowledge, other than that beast of a sampling equation, but don't feel good about anything in any other section.

I was wondering if anyone recently took the AUD section? I took the section several months ago but failed.
