@Yankee, the 2nd and 3rd testlet had a lot more international related questions which I am assuming/hoping are pretest. A few out of left field. A lot that you could narrow it down to two right answers but the question was so wordy you couldn't really tell what the heck they were asking. I had to mark maybe 3 in the first testlet, the 2nd and the 3rd I had over 8 marked 🙁

@canson16 FAR I am using Becker, and the Wiley test bank. This is a retake for me. Planning to only study for it 4 weeks.. Hope it's enough time :/

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

I have been reading through everyones posts in the last few weeks and it has given me so much comfort in knowing that I am not alone here. I also appreciate all of the great study tips and test experiences. Thank you everyone!

This is my first time posting. I have only a few days before my audit test and I am freaking out as this material is so dry and I just want my numbers back!

@Peanut – You are so dedicated to your studies, I am sure that you did much better than you think. When I walked out of FAR, all I could say is I don't know because I was really dwelling on all those darn international questions that I didn't focus nearly enough study time on. Once I saw my score, I can only assume that most of them were pretest and hopefully the same will hold true for audit.

Hi everyone, I will be starting to study for AUD with a 2008 Becker book soon, and I was wondering if anyone else has worked with dated materials. The video cd's have expired so I'll be reading the chapters on my own. Am I wasting my time here by trying to save the money?

I will be using cpareviewforfree.com and Wiley online testbank and Ninja notes to supplement.

can anyone give advice on how to use the authoritative literature tab when working out simulations (that aren't research) ??

seems like it could be helpful, but then again it's kind of hard to navigate so it could just end up being a waste of time…

    thanks!

@Peanut – I noticed your reg increased from 60 to 80. I have to take it in January after I sit for Audit this testing window. Just curious – what did you do for the 20 point jump? That's awesome!

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!

@CPAWannabeVa, I think you may be doing yourself a disservice by trying to study dated materials. Quite a bit has changed over the last few years. For example, there are now 15 PCAOB Audit Standards where there used to be only 7. They are also now testing ISA on the AUD exam as well as the AICPA Code of Conduct. You could be loosing valuable points if you don't have this covered.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

    Used NIU Correspondence CPA Review

@Veronica75– I would respond to you in the REG forum but for some reason my posts don't show up there 🙁 I used Becker. I studied like I had never studied for REG before. I rewatched all of the lectures and took really intense notes, since I had taken REG before (a couple of times lol) I kind of knew what was important vs. not so important. I read the ancillary 3x all three of my exams tested pretty heavily on that information. After lectures/notes, I reworked all of the Becker questions, only once. Then I purchased the Wiley test bank which made a HUGE difference. I was very confident during the actual exam because of Wiley. I worked through all of the Wiley MCQs . Re-wrote all of my “intense” notes. Then gave myself several 72 MCQ tests in Wiley. Good luck!! REG is brutal! Worse than FAR I believe..

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Thanks Peanut. I've never used the Wiley test bank before. Is it expensive? Where do you purchase it?

I'm focusing on Audit now, and if I pass, Reg will be my last exam. I think you are right about intense notes – it worked for me when I passed audit in Feb 2010. I think it's one of the best ways: review the text, make notes as you go, work MCQ, and add notes for things you miss. It's been so long since I passed audit, I forgot my study methods – I found my typed outlines of each chapter on my computer yesterday. I was a beast when I was studying for my first CPA exam. I was so fresh and motivated!

I am hopeful I will pass Audit this window and will just have Reg to focus on next. The last time I took BEC (my 4th attempt) I had decided to quit studying if I didn't pass… here I am. 🙂

So for $97 you get a computerized test bank right? Would you say the format is similar to Becker questions? i.e. you get explanations for each answer choice?

I'm definitely considering this purchase. Sometimes I feel as though I've memorized answer choices. I become a MCQ zombie on auto-pilot.

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!
    BEC - 81 (4x)
