Determined CPAParticipantI just finished all the lectures for A4 and am extremely overwhelmed. Has anyone figured out a way to remember which management assertions go with which transaction cycle and whether it relates to a balance, transaction or disclosure? Talk about information overload!!
Any feedback would be helpful at this point!
Thank you.

rjbini2MemberI was initially overwhelmed by A4 as well. I knew there was no way I would be able to memorize all of those flowcharts and the assertions relating to each account balance, transactions and disclosures in each of the different cycles. I watched the lecture, skimmed through the reading material and then just drill MCQs over and over. This was the only way that it began to make sense to me.

Iron_VictoryMemberI don't use Becker, I've used Kaplan and they use this it has helped a little bit. It could help you, you could hate it. Don't shoot the messenger.
Assertions about Classes of transactions – “OACCC” sounds like OAK
Occurrence
Accuracy
Completeness
Cut-off
Classification
Assertions about Balances – “CERV” sounds like SERVE
Completeness
Existence
Rights and Obligations
Valuation and Allocation
Assertions about Presentation and Disclosure – “CROAC” sounds like CROAK
Completeness
Rights and Obligations
Occurrence
Accuracy and Valuation
Classification
These things are non-sense but it has helped. I don't have any advise on how to associate which one with the right category however. Good Luck.

greenriderMemberHey, I registered an account to answer your question! 😉
I felt the same way, very overwhelmed. My first runthrough I had a very low MC pass rate with Becker. So, what I did was spend about a half a day on A4. I went over each flowchart and redrew the flowcharts myself. This helped me understand the processes and realize they weren't that overwhelming. A4 is a big deal. Spend some time on it.

Determined CPAParticipant@ rjbini2 and Iron_Victory – Thank you..I will try and use those mnemonics in my review and do all the MCQs over and over.
@greenrider – Thanks for setting up an account to answer. I planned to spend all of today on A4, as you did. They keep saying A3 and A4 are huge for the exam. A3 was much better than A4. I'm going to try what you suggested and spend half of today reviewing/rewriting the material to try and get a handle on it and then the remainder of the day doing MCQs. Hopefully that's enough.
Thank you all for you responses. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

Determined CPAParticipantWhat about the equations? Are you guys going to study them all? I know the test is fair game for anything but I'm just curious what others are doing.
I took Reg in July and am finding audit much more time consuming. I find I have to re-read everything over just to understand it enough to start the MCQs. I purchased the 10 pt combo with the Wiley test bank but wasn't going to start those MCQs until I completed all lectures in Becker. Anyone else do things differently?

MrsBingMember@Determined, I'm experiencing the same. REG and FAR seemed so much easier than AUD. I have to keep re-reading for the information to stick. Besides that I'm keeping to my original strategy, where I go over all of the Becker material, then during my 3 week review, which I just started yesterday, I spend a week re-reading each chapter and re-doing at least half of the Becker questions for each Chapter, then during the last 2 weeks I'll do the Wiley questions. So, I don't normally touch Wiley until my final 2 weeks of review.

Determined CPAParticipantThank you, @ MrsBing. Maybe I will try that strategy as well. I had this idea in my head that I would be able to attack Wiley much sooner, but I think Becker is taking up all my time for now. My study plan leaves 2 weeks for a final review so I think I will try your approach and incorporate Wiley MCQs into my studying then.
I seriously better pass this one the first time around, I do NOT want to do this one again!
