using work experiences to pass AUD?

    Hello,

I am currently studying for AUD. I recently started a staff position working for a small/medium sized public accounting firm. Due to the small size of the firm, I have the ability to work on both tax and audit projects.

I’m anxious to learn more about the process to assist with my work and studying, but I’m having trouble grasping the Becker lectures.

Those that have completed AUD while working. Are there any projects/work you would recommend me to get involved doing to help the AUD subject matter go full circle to prepare for the exam?

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Reviews and compilations along with the audits. Going through those checklists and understanding what to look out for is helpful. Not sure your firm's process, but if you can access engagement letters and what not to see form (or even prepare before it gets sent to clients) that would be helpful too.

The CPA Exam is auditing “in a vacuum”. Work experience will help some, but this isn't real life – it's a standardized test.

I say this because I've received a lot of emails over the years from auditors who are about to throw their laptop through the wall because they can't pass AUD and ask “what is wrong with me?!?!”

If you're already an auditor – fine, it should help some…but otherwise just study your materials.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - 92

My audit work experience helped with knowing what goes in the letters, the format, wording, opinion, etc. I had to write so many of those at work that I had them memorized. Fast forward 2 years when I took the CPA exam for aud and I didn't need to study those portions much.

    BEC - 78
    AUD - 75
    REG - 64, 77
    FAR - 73, 73, 73, 82
    Ethics: 74, 84, 98
    Finally done after 23 months.
