I was so sure I was going to get 90s this time around.. But ended up with 63.. What am I doing wrong???

This is how I study.. I kept doing the Wiley test bank questions.. Kind of randomly selecting the sections.. so yes, not very organized structure.. But I kept doing them over and over and over.. and up to the point of towards exam day.. I did about 10-15 questions (randomly selected thru the practice module) of each section.. and I averaged about 70-80.. and research simulations was always 100%.

Anyway, do you think I need to change study materials? sometimes I feel like doing questions for AUD section isn’t that great because AUD is focused on pure memorization.. So should i just read the book front to back??? or just read sections that Becker told us to highlight in the video..

Dont know what to do.. feel so frustrated… like seriously?!?! I was so confident about the exam, and then end up with 63… Like *(&#(&*#%# arghhrh

I'll attest to the writing and rewriting part. You just have to understand it, that involves some memorization but you should be able to talk yourself into alot of answers by just eliminating the dumb answers bc you understand the topic.

I did minimal questions until i wrote and re wrote my notes and reading them a few times, and then with with like 3 weeks left i was just MCQ machine.

@DizzySpells Hmm.. I did start to rewrite the notes.. but then realize.. it will take forever… Which I want to take the exam again in 3 weeks, and kill it with the 90s' like I expected… I will probably try to write notes that are highlighted from beckers one day, and rewrite the MCQ the next and understand each answer choice.

    Thanks All

Does anybody feel that maybe since the majority of CPA takers are Auditors, it might make it harder to pass? Think about it. If 50% pass rates are the norm for each exam, for one person to pass, they need to be in the 50th percentile or higher to get that 75+. You might be doing fine on the exam, but not in comparison to the rest.

I hope I'm wrong in my reasoning!

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 81
    FAR - 76
    REG - 89

I have used a combination of the Wiley Online Test Bank and the Wiley Book to study for the CPA Exam. By using this method of study I have passed two sections on the first try. FAR with an 82 and BEC with an 82. Before taking these test my top score on the Wiley Test was an 87 for FAR and a 90 for BEC.

I am now using the same method for AUD and my top Wiley Score is 90; I plan to sit for the AUD test early October 2013.

When testing I go through every MCQ and simulation. So my testing in one run may consist of 1100 MCQ and 20 simulations

So I am still studying and my top score should go higher. I would suggest trying to get a higher score with Wiley than 70 to 80, and try to determine what is stumping you with the real AUD test.

@futureCPA12 You are absolutely correct… one of my friends told me to take during earlier in year.. around January or so.. where it is busy season for the auditors… he scored a 93 on his audit.

@Jasper Hey thanks for advice. But just one thing.. isn't reading the Wiley book like reading a dictionary? I mean the way it is written is extremely long and it just looks like a long endless script of text… How do you do it? Skim, and read parts that looks important? or highlight out the major areas in each section? and rewrite them?

I'm hoping to sit in for AUD early October as well. Let me know how you do?

@ Curious Dude. I read the entire book and take notes from it. However, I have discovered that taking notes from the book is a waste of time because I always return to the book to study. Keep in mind that a good portion of the MCQ's and the SIMS are different from Wiley's online test bank.

If you look at the AUD book, it breaks everything down into sections. For instance, you read pages 20 through 23, then you do MCQ'S 1 through 10, then you read pages 24 through 27, then you do MCQ's 11 to 20, etc.

My study strategy is read the book, then do the practice tests for each section (Reporting, Evidence, etc); when I get to the end of the book. I study it again and go through every online MCQ and SIM on Wiley.

I keep a spreadsheet of my score results for each section (Reporting, Evidence, etc), and then have average total for the entire AUD practice exam. Then I repeat the process. I have studied almost four months for AUD, and have gone from an average score of 62 to 90

I used the same study process for FAR and BEC, and was successful. So hopefully, this study strategy carries over to AUD.
