    Hey guys.

Im a CPA and im working through the CIA. I passed part 3 already, and am working on part 2 (saving part 1 for last).

Im using Gleim books and online prep. Any thoughts on the difficulty? I was reading other forums and people (keep in mind, these were older posts) were complaining that the Gleim material sucked for part 2 because the actual questions were nothing like it. I was surprised. Having read through the book and doing the questions, it seemed easy and i was pretty eager to get the exam done with. Any truth to those comments?

I guess if i fail ill just write part 1 then go back to part 2.

Parts 1 and 2 are a joke. I thought Part 3 was challenging. I took it without studying and missed it by one question so I'm retaking it in March. I am using Gleim too. Just read through the book and you'll be fine.

I plan on beginning studying for Part 3 (my first part) beginning Monday. Given the warnings on this thread, I am planning to utilized the same study partern, number of MCQ's etc. that i used for the CPA exam to be on the safe side.

Any tips for studying for Part 3?

With regards to Parts 1-2, from what people are saying, I can reduce my studying intensity for these parts. I am a fairly intelligent and analytical person. I got a 95 on the auditing section, by understanding that most MCQ's were essentially: “Which answer provides the most audit evidence?” Is it similar on the Parts 1-2 of the CIA exam? How intensly did you study for these parts? Any suggestions on what to focus on and what to shrug off?

    Thanks!

I heard if you have your CPA you can skip taking one of the sections. Is this not true anymore??

That was under the old 4-part exam. The new 3 part exam there is no waiving a piece.

@Adam – I studied for about 30-40 hours for parts 1 and 2 each. I ready through the Gleim book and probably did 10 practice tests of 20 questions each on the Gleim online test prep. I am re-studying for Part 3 and trying to treat it like a CPA exam section also. I can't seem to find the motivation though. I need to get serious before the exam (March 21st). I think they cram too much into Part 3 instead of adjusting the three parts to accommodate the stuff they needed to from the old Part 4.

If you look at a prior thread on this topic, BobRossFan deemed himself a genius, and the CIA exam a joke and beneath him. Glad that guy is no longer here. He seemed very pompous.

What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

@memmy – congrats on passing CIA exams! Did you use Gleam for it? Or you got materials from IIA website?

@Memmy Way to go!!! I take part 3 on Thursday. I am a little nervous about it. Any tips on what to focus on? I remember that, for the CPA exam, the study material MCQ's were always ‘harder' than the actual exam questions….is this the case with the cia and gleim at all?? Congrats again
