    I currently have 121 credits and need 29 more to meet the 150 requirement, so I will go and get my masters. I do not know where I should go in NYC or Long Island area. I want to go somewhere that isn’t too expensive. Also, would a school waive the GMAT if I have successfully passed the CPA.

    Thanks

    Do you have a certain city or area of the country where you want to work? If so, go to a school where the firms you want to work for in those cities recruit.

    I knew that I wanted to work in Seattle which narrowed down my choice to basically two or three schools.

    Baruch is dirt cheap if you are a ny resident but is also well regarded school

    Yea I would agree that Baruch is a good option. Rutgers is in NJ anyway but avoid that place.

    I dont have my 150 hrs of education yet, still a bit short. Yet i'm eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

    I'm planning to get my master's degree after I pass all 4 sections. I just took my 1st section.

    I was wondering why do you want your MS now? You can sit for the exams and pass then do your masters.

    I also recommend considering an MBA. Many of the accounting professionals in my department have an MBA & a CPA. It’s a good combo, that’s my future pla

    Its not going to be cheap, but I got my Masters in Tax at Fordham. I think that they waive the GMATs if you have your CPA. You could also look at Pace – not sure sure how expensive they are.

    In my experience, if you go the state school route, the football team is the best ambassador for a school. And let's face it, hiring managers in the real world aren't necessarily all that academically inclined, but if they heard of your school from, say, the March Madness tournament, they're more likely to have at least some favorable opinion of it.

    In short:

    Athletics = Academics

    (or at least congruous to)
