CPE is…fun?

So, I just submitted my permit fee to the Accountancy Board of Ohio and decided I am going to try and knock out my 40 hours of CPE as soon as possible.

I am trying to find good CPE courses to take, and it might be weird by I am actually excited. I went to the provider my boss recommended and a lot of the courses actually look like fun and I am hoping will continue to help me grow and learn. I know I might feel differently about CPE in a few years, but what has all of your experience been so far? Any specific recommendations?

I enjoy continuing education because it's a chance to get out of the office, meet new people, and change up the routine. I'm still trying to convince the boss that they need to send me to one of those week long conferences at a luxury resort in Hawaii, though. 😛

@LawGuy Become the boss, and then go to Hawaii.

I passed in February and have had a hard time finding CPE's that apply to private. Most the ones the Indiana CPA Society offer relate to tax or audit. Does anyone have recommendations where I can find some that are more in line with my job? I work in manufacturing, and am a senior role. So far the only ones that get my interest are excel courses ( I'm an excel junkie 🙂 )

Hoosier I've used both cpe depot and cpe think, its usually around $300 for a 2 year unlimited credits membership and worth every penny.

Problem I find even with those is the courses that interest me and are relevant are usually 1 cpe credit, and the monster “hey, how's about we learn the entire tax code? Mmmmkay?” courses are 40.

Also the quickbooks proadvisor course gives a bunch of credits, I think my first renewal I did only that and the MA ethics exam.
