I got this for free from Wiley (part of promoting their CMA review course). It is a salary survey done by the IMA comparing those with no license, CMA, CPA, and both CMA/CPA. It is worth looking at if you considering the CMA. It looks like adding the CMA after the CPA should help, but it varies a bit depending on the variable (size of company, position, education, geography, etc.)

MLKCT….your logic is flawed. One job can't be worth the same for all candidates due to experience level and education. There is a range for those purposes. However, how much we get of that range varies to a large extent by how much and how well we negotiate. To say we shouldn't have to negotiate means they literally have a set salary for each and every combination of possible experience, education and accomplishments and that's just not feasible.

I agree that men with equivelant qualifications being paid more for the same position is not fair. Unfortunately you can't control what various companies compensate various women compared to men. All you can control is how much they compensate you. Hence negotiation.

I didn't say we shouldn't have to negotiate I said we shouldn't have to be aggressive.

To negotiate within a range based on experience and education is fair. Having to become aggressive due to my ‘anatomy' is not. Especially because in our society an aggressive man is respected while an aggressive woman is labeled 'emotional'.

I cleaned that response up just for you Jeff.

MCLKT….Aggressive is how negotiations are done. How do you passively negotiate? The fact that you shouldn't “have” to be aggressive is pointless. If you really feel being underpaid for your woohaa is unfair you should be willing to be aggressive when the time comes for you to have an impact on it. Change never happens quickly or easily…..

like I said I'm happy with my AGI. I was able to balance negotiating without becoming aggressive. It's an art I don't expect you to understand. Had I become aggressive I would be viewed a B and wouldn't get the job.

If we follow your reasoning one would be led to believe that men are always more qualified with higher education. And that is incorrect.

you're preaching to the choir here do I seem like the type that is unwilling to be aggressive? do I seem like the type of woman unwilling to fight for change?

the point is women are the only ones having to fight for it

( please forgive typos and punctuation this is from my phone)
