Just wondering, outside of cost accounting, is the material on the CMA used in management positions? It seems that some general operations and management positions require skills in excel and access, so I was wondering what else they might require. Thanks.

The CMA test is full of managerial type questions and analysis, as well as theory on the essays (sims).

Operations is tested, and knowledge of IT, but not specific software such as excel and access.
