I just graduated in May this year with my bachelors in accounting. I was a year behind in school so I was able to graduate with 150 credits without taking any grad classes so I decided to sign up for BEC and AUD this summer. So far its been a week and wishing cost accounting wasn’t the first accounting class I took 2 years ago! Everything seems so foreign. But anyways I decided to try to take these exams this summer since I have a part time job bookkeeping where I only have to work around 15 hours a week so figured might as well waste away my summer doing this. I’m taking grad accounting classes in the fall that I think will help me pass the other parts of the test. During that time I’m planning on going through the schools fall accounting interview process. The majority of my friends have done internships at the big four firms and enrolled in the MPA program (because they think they need to be in order to qualify for the CPA). Just wondering if employers will be interested in me if I mention on my resume that I’m signed up to take those 2 parts? Interviews are usually in September and I would be getting back my BEC score before then. And during an interview do employers look down on you for failing? I would think not but who knows. Also, regardless or whether I pass or not would employers be more likely to hire me based on the fact I am trying to pass now over someone who is still in graduate school and not taking it help? Stupid questions I know but would appreciate some input.
