What are the exciting career paths in accounting? I’ve recently been licensed as a CPA in California and have worked in government for the last 8 years. I’m curious what the exciting career options are as a CPA.

The only thing that comes to mind as “exciting” for a CPA would be law enforcement…forensic accountant, FBI agent, etc.

As Jeff mentioned, I think law enforcement, specifically the IRS's task force would be exciting.  The issue I had when I applied was the required 6 month training course in Georgia.  I couldn't shut my life down for 6 months.  The training covers evasive driving, self-defense, shooting, and a review of tax law from what I recall.  From my understanding the position will require carrying a gun, investigating businesses on site, and performing arrests.  In my area (Philadelphia) it would probably be a little dangerous as well, so maybe a little too exciting.
