I got this question when I interviewed with a company and was unable to answer well so I would like to ask you how would you guys answer this question. Frankly, I apply for every senior accountant position I come across and do not think much about company until I get a job offer.

Gotta bs it. They know you're interviewing elsewhere they're not dumb. Give them something that lets them know you know something about the company and took time to research the role.

Before you go into your interview, find out a bit about the company and then spin that into something that interests you. Try and see if that company is doing anything that puts them in a unique situation. For example, if they do a lot of charitable events or are well-known in the community for fundraising or something like that, reference that and say something about how the company has a reputation for helping, and that you'd be proud to work for a company like that, etc. etc.

Of course you're applying to every staff accountant job, but they still want to know you're at least KIND OF interested in that specific corp!

they just want to know if you have actually done some work to look into the company. you should always have an answer to that question before you interview if you dont…it looks really bad

if i am interviewing for a large company in the area i usually say something like “i was looking at the top companies in xcity and obviously you were up there. after researching xcompany i found that you seem to be not only a great company but a great place to work” or some bs like that

Everyone has their own approach and I typically read up on every company's volunteer/green initiatives. I say that XX caught my eye and that I like volunteering and giving back to the community, blah blah blah. It's specific, it's easy to research, and it's easy to be passionate about it.
