Hi,
I’ve been getting good advices and useful information from ‘Another 71’ and I just wanted to share my joy and wanted to thank many folks here.
I’ve recently got a job at a local accounting firm as a staff auditor (CA)!
Luckily, I’ve passed all 4 sections of the CPA exam and have several years of non-public accounting experience but I didn’t have any Public accounting experience or accounting degree, and I dind’t know anyone in any accounting firms.
Most accounting firms were looking for candidates with Public accounting experience for staff position, and I wasn’t a good candidate for Internship either because I graduated from college a long time ago.
Anyway, I was searching on the internet and made a long list of accounting firms in CA. I visited each company websites and emailed my resume, to Partners if there were partners’ email addresses available. I think I had applied to 50-60 companies. Many of them were not even hiring staff level, and some firms were hiring entry level position only through a certain college that they had relationship with, and a lot of companies didn’t even respond to my email.
In a month, I finally got a phone call from one of those firms that I had applied to and I was invited to an interview. The company appreciated my non-accounting industry experience and they liked the fact that I was done with the CPA exam.
Even though it’s not a big size prestegious accounting firm, I’m very excited to start my new career in Public Accounting with a friendly small local accounting firm, who recognized my potential 🙂
Again, thank you guys for your opinions and advices.
