There are many economist in the US and world that publish articles. Zerohedge.com select certain articles and twists the stories around to form an opinion.

I believe you can get a better picture on the state of jobs from:

    The bureau of labor statistics.

I'm sure this website looks more professional than others I have seen.

I think it's a combination of you experience and education. With out a CPA and 3 years of after college experience I make 50k. This is w/o going to a Big 4 etc…

Can everyone please post the states you're working in when you mention earnings. That will help everyone else out. I see around 50k starting with no experience at all in CA so there is a large skewing of earnings depending on where you live.

    FAR 92 - AUD 91 - REG 94 - BEC 86

If you want to see your salaries, for any profession, by any state or MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area), you can go to the bureau of labor statistics….

    https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oessrcma.htm

There's tons of information you can find there….

I work for a privately held company, as a Senior Accountant with 10 years of financial analyst experience in central NC and without my CPA my salary is roughly $61K plus bonus.

    BEC 77; FAR 81; AUD 70 – retake 8/31; REG 7/23

    Felt this was worth reiterating:

“I would pick the World Cup octopus over any government economist. At least you know the octopus isn't biased.

Private industry, which is most of us aim for (since it pays more than public) definitely doesn't look great.”

    bwwahahhahaahaaa!

…and it shouldn't be funny at all.

like others have said it is difficult to say what is the minimum that a cpa will make due to variation of salaries based on geography, firm, school, etc. I think a fairly good source to find out exactly how much people make is to look at http://www.glassdoor.com. people disclose how much they make and you can get a perspective on salary by geography.

Check out this data from Robert Half – they have a nice salary guide that shows you different markets and different types of jobs (staff vs senior, financial analyst vs controller, etc). I've found it to be fairly accurate.

if that link doesnt work, just try this one: https://www.roberthalffinance.com/SalaryGuideDownload
