How does one get into the auditing field? I currently work in accounts payable and wanted to possibly change gears. Can any Auditors explain their daily activities and offer some advice?

It will come down to who you know, inside the firm. Connections, social networking etc.

You can apply all day, every day, but chances are slim. Chances are good for candidates from campus recuriting etc.

Make sure you finish your CPA and put it on your resume. It will help a lot. I made my transition to public from private with the help of connections, finishing up my CPA and some goodluck, and prayers…

Do you have auditors that come audit where you work now? I would try that… When I worked as an auditor we hired an accounting clerk type person who had been a student and expressed interest. She actually still works there and I don't. It has been over 5 years. She probably makes more than me now. :-/ Another good way to get out there is to look into “Meet the Firms” it is a recruiting event, generally for college students but I beleive there are some that accept outsiders. It is about “networking” getting to know the firms professionally and some what socially. At least that is the way it was for me. Best of luck!!

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.
