Can I mail them all together? Will I confuse the IRS? I think I was told to mail them separately years ago… I have 5 different companies I’m mailing the 1096’s in for, all related, NPO’s… What do you CPA’s and future CPA’s think?

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

What is your experience with efile? Bad? I am really curious based on your reply above. Not responding to your claim that I am young, just honestly curious. I have done both mailing and efile before. Thanks!

First electronic submission of 1099/1096 data is required after a certain number of reported 1099s have been reached; however, the data reception on the side of the IRS is faulty at best. I had to transmit several times and had errors on their end each time – at the end of the process, I had to manually send in those 1099s that errored-out; the 1096 had to be sent in separately as well.

Yes, that is no good. I haven't had any issues, although my one complaint would my 1099 software does not support corrected 1099's and I swear I end up with one of these every year. And this year IRS didn't even open their system for e-filing until February. Maybe they were fixing those bugs or making more! Ha!

musicamor – your experience with e-file must have traumatized you, and you never tried again. I do agree that sending all in one package is taking a risk with “The Most Intellegent Branch Of Gov't,” and would personally send individually. I have seen simple math done incorrectly by them. Also, you assuming everyone who replied above are young and inexperienced is a little out of line, and maybe you should avoid comments like that before the Drama Ninja gets mad.

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!
