I was wondering if some people could post some feedback on working for a Big4 firm and studying for the CPA exam at the same time as that is what I am currently doing. How long did it take you? How much of the actual work were you able to apply to the exam? etc…

I don't have experience with a Big 4, however I worked for a very large regional and currently work for a smaller regional and I can honestly say that I was able to apply A LOT of information to the exam. The experience and knowledge came in very useful and really helped in studying and understanding concepts. However, that is only one edge of the sword (getting experience and then sitting for the exam). In public accounting, it seems like if you want adequate time to study for the exam, you need to do it right away because you're not as busy. It's like once everyone figures out what you can do and your ability, you never have down time!
