PeanutParticipantSince the end of November I have been trying to get into a Big 4. I was referred by a friend, of a friend type of deal. They contacted me once in December asking me to complete my “online profile.” When I didn’t hear back for over a month I started to lose hope, and started to contact recruiters in my area. BUT they just contacted me for a phone interview that will take place in a couple of weeks! If I get my foot in the door, I can nail an interview—in person. I’ve never really done a phone interview. I’m very personable, but this is a little nerve wracking! Any advice my fellow CPA family has is much appreciated!!!

PeanutParticipantThank you thank you thank you guys for all of your support, it means a lot to me! π
@CPATerminator, good luck at your interview today with a Big 4!! I laughed out loud when I read your recruiter is hott hahah. Be classy Terminator!
@jamesblunt69, that's what I'm hoping! If I passed AUD though π yuck.
@mla1169, I commuted in for the interview, took me exactly an hour to get there. Not bad at all. I'll commute for a while before I decided which part I want to live in. I really don't know the area that well, despite growing up around here. I know NY much better!

And I know August sucks but seriously, you can finish off all your requirements and you will feel much better when you start work there because you won't have anything hanging over your head, which is great!
Anyways, SO cool!!! π

AnonymousInactiveHey Peanut or anyone else who used a referral, a quick question (or two): Did you submit a cover letter along with your resume on their referral site? If you did, did you tailor it to a specific position (for e.g: “I'm applying for an audit/tax/adcisory associate position etc…) or did you say something general like “an entry level position?”
I'm curious because I've just gotten two referrals: one for Deloitte and the other for EY and I'm trying to put my best foot forward in order to get into the door.
