Hi – I am currently in the final stages of interviewing at another Big 4 for a Senior Consultant role within their M&A practice. I am currently a senior auditor at a different Big 4. I have my final interview in a few days with a partner via video conference. In total, I’ve gone through 3 interviews so far, one with the firm’s recruiter via phone, second via phone call with a manager, and third via video conference with a senior manager. Has anyone gone through the entire experienced hire process? Is it normal to have 4 rounds of interviews and no in-person interview (only video/call)? Also, since I’m speaking to a partner for my final round, should I expect to prepare for technical/difficult questions or are they just checking to see that I can hold a conversation and they are selling me the firm at this point? Just trying to prepare myself because I really want this position.

In my experience interviewing (and getting two positions at two Big 4's), when you make it through all the interviews and then speak with a partner, you are pretty much a shoe-in for being hired. The partner just wants to know who the firm is hiring. Unless you totally screw up the interview somehow, you should be fine. When I interviewed with the partners, there were zero technical accounting questions asked. The interview, if you even want to call it that, was more of a business casual conversation. One guy spent about 20 minutes talking to me about sports and how awful his teams were doing. In my personal experience, you are correct about selling you the firm. The partner just wants to make sure you're not a weirdo.

Hey, thanks for your reply! Very helpful. What was your timeline from when you first applied/screening interview to when you received the offer and how long were you given to respond? I have my final interview with a partner on Wednesday and I'm wondering when I could expect to receive an offer (IF I even receive one). I know I might be jumping ahead here but I just want to be prepared for that HR convo with my current firm – I'm anxious about it. Thanks for your help!
