I have the Gold Medal course, but I wish I had gotten the Silver course ($1,590) instead. The only difference between the two is that with the Gold course you get “professor mentoring.” You get access to forums where you can post questions to actual professors and you also get the benefit of viewing other users' questions and answers. It can be useful sometimes, but I'd definitely be able to do without it.
So, don't get the Gold course unless you think you'll use the forum access regularly.
I have the gold medal course and I've only used the discussion boards like twice for two sections of the exam. I opened the BEC book once or twice and didn't use the REG book at all. You could save money by getting the lower packages without those things if you think you won't use them. My books look nice in my bookcase at home but that's it.
