I’ve started taking extensive notes as I read the Becker books now and I’ve noticed I retain much more of the information. I took about 10 total pages of notes for FAR but am now up to around 6 pages per chapter for REG. Did you guys see your note taking translate into better test scores?

Just a random thought I wanted to ask/share.

I took like 100 pages of notes for FAR. Pages and pages of factoids and mnemonics and helpful hints to myself.
As I haven't taken any sections yet – but will take FAR in 2 weeks – I can't make a comment on it quite yet.
But, I'd say “the more notes you take in general, the better.” The kinesthetic act of writing things down has been
proven over and over again to help a person learn the material better.

I think I had maybe 20 pages of one sided notes for FAR. About 15-20 for REG. For BEC I just wrote down the formulas/ratios. Maybe 2-3 pages of notes for AUD, LOL.

Notes take up too much time. I just took mental notes and let the MCQs drill the crap into my head.

    FAR - June 2016 - 88
    REG - July 2016 - 89
AUD - Aug 2016 - review phase currently
    BEC - Sep 2016 -

Just the post I was looking for, I just opened FAR and just last night was contemplating whether to type notes or hand write notes. I took notes on the first section from ROGERS and this morning as soon as i woke up I tried to recall what i had taken notes on and I did quite good on what i remembered from last night. So yes, I am taking notes on FAR im still deciding if I should be typing or hand writing them because that is ONE HUGE BOOK but i dont know how else I will retain the information. I am keeping them organized by Sections so I can refer to them later.

IF YOU ARE THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO REMEMBERS BY WRITING AND TAKING NOTES DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP, dont think reading only will be ok. it wont. i tried it.

The advantage of typing notes is to be able to find the topic you want to get so quick and handy in finding it in MS Word. Taking notes by writing manually hurts my fingers. So I prefer typing.

I write notes as I read and I re-write the ninja notes, sometimes I feel restless and I feel the writing is over kill because I rarely re-read the notes I write. I do it any way just can't read without writing what I think is important.
