    @Lilla I'm not sure if we will all have jobs when computers take over but you sure will! I always love to read your responses to people's questions because they are always so well written and so well thought out. 🙂

    In all honesty, computers can take over practically all jobs. The small exception would be blue collar work.

    All others TBD

    Couple decades back, accounting departments were HUGE! YYYUUUGGGE!!!

    Computers and automation have already eliminated a great deal of accounting work and it will continue to do so in the long-term. It is questionable whether it will ever completely eliminate human accounting work, but it is within the realm of possibility.

    I still see plenty of folks in denial that we will ever have self-driving cars despite the fact that there are already self-driving cars on the road too.

    can a computer pass the CPA exam? dont think so.

    i did bookmark this thread so i can have my humanoid house-servant robot pull it up 10 years from now, and we can both laugh over a cigar at how wrong we all were.

    No they won't lol. Computers help accountants in processing the information. Actually being able to understand and making decisions requires a human aspect.

    FAR = 86 4/22/16
    BEC = 80 6/01/16
    REG = 07/26/16
    AUD = ?

    Actually, in the Future, Turbo Tax will have grown too big and become Sentient and begin hunting down CPA's and Accountants. Because of that B4 will form a Coalition and send a CPA back in time in order to stop that from happening.

    Not likely in 20 years..after that who knows..

    Take turbo tax for example..you still have to know the basics of tax law to do even the most basic return..or PAY the same amount of money you would to have a tax pro do it..

    People are not going to use a system where they have to pay just as much if not more to do their own taxes..

    A CPA is not an accountant per say..they are a consultant/advisor..you are a life counseelor for small businesses giving them advice on how to become more profitable and stratgic growth measures..

    You also have to look at the audit end..is a software progam going to be able to go in and test controls? I dont think so..

    Bookkeeping and payroll are somewhat automated..but computers cant do everything themselves and never probably will be able to..

    WIth the cpusa invasion of our society and ever growing tax burdens and debt the real threat is outsourcing to india and asia thanks to Obama and TPP
