    Do you keep it?
    Sell it? If so, where?
    Donate it? If so where?

    I’m moving in a week, and I found out I passed my last two exams on the 22nd. I want to unload the materials quick.

    I'm something of a packrat so I might not be the best person to ask.

    BUT, why not go to your local community college and ask one of the Accounting professors there if their lesson plans could benefit from them? They could better summarize the information in some way.

    I'm having a bonfire once I pass my final exam.

    @over_it I have the same plan for mine!!! A big bonfire!!! I am going to have a huge party and will have everyone participating in ripping the books apart into a beautiful confetti! A $3,500 confetti…

    Materials get updated all the time, I don't think they will be very useful for the next CPA wannabe.

    @Over_it, I've thought about doing that. I might as well do it.

    @Namstut
    , You're probably right, especially since the format is changing significantly in 2017..

    @Wanna_B_TXCP_A2014, I've also thought about doing that, but I came across a post about the license agreement, and I'm now wondering if it's legal to donate it to a library.. hmm…

    I was going to donate it to the Los Angeles County library system since the newest stuff they have is Wiley 2014. However, once you pass, word gets around the office and people start borrowing the books. Once I get everything back I will donate it.

    I would not sell it only because everyone is better off with new stuff and only the FAR book is from 2016.

    I disagree. Not EVERYTHING changes. Old materials are still valuable to teach mechanics. But, the thresholds seem to be what changes. eg consider REG & the depreciation deduction. Perhaps Congress can change the 2500 limit, but you can still use the book to see how to apply the rule, given different scenarios. In other words, you could use it to better understand a solution to a MCQ you didn't quite understand.

    Or, I'm a packrat. Whatever. Haha

    Congrats on passing. Most programs have licensing agreements saying you can't resell your materials (people do but you're not likely to find much advice on how to).I'm a fan of the bonfire method myself.
