TexasmomParticipantIf you guys have passed REG can you give me some pointers on what your game plan was? I have Wiley lectures, book and test bank. I also have Ninja notes, Ninja audio and will get the MCQ’s again.
I have taken REG twice and failed with 72 and 73. Ready to have it over and done with this year, shooting to take it before the end of October. FAR expires June 2017.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!FAR - 84

REG-FTW86ParticipantI bought the 10 point combo. Read the entire NINJA book and followed the NINJA process for my retake. I bough Roger's entire program for the exams but since this was my last one, when I scored low I needed some new material.
I had score 66, 61, and then an 80. After the 61 I was pissed. I looked into the reviews for the 10 point combo and gave it a shot. I used Roger for the first 2 but didn't do much Ninja MCQ even though I bought it. My MCQ stats were 795 question attempts. Average score 76%, trending score 78%. Total time was 21 hours of practice. People on this forum keep stressing MCQ. They are 99% correct. On my 3rd retake I felt like I KILLED the MCQ. I thought I was going to pass for sure…When I got to SIMS I was overwhelmed. I just read the questions and answered them as best as I could. I finished the exam with almost an hour to spare. I thought i wasn't going to pass because of the SIMS.
Also, on my 3rd retake I started hanging out with friends again on Friday nights and picked up golf again and started playing my ps4. I didn't just do nothing when I wasn't studying. That helped clear my mind.

Senk TankParticipantIts all about making sure you are actually learning everytime you sit down to study.
Its painful doing the concepts that are more difficult but going through that pain is where you will learn the most.
Also, MCQ are the most valuable to me. Everytime I get a MCQ wrong, I made a notecard.

bhunt815ParticipantI used Becker online, but since I only passed with a 79 I'm not sure I should be the one giving advice. But, here's how I did it…
I did all the tax stuff first and got comfortable with it before I ever moved on to the B-Law portion. I literally did hundreds and hundreds of tax problems before I attempted a single B-Law or ethics problem. Then I spent a week on just ethics and my last week on B-Law before a week of review. I actually disagree with people who say you shouldn't do many practice SIM's. The MCQ's help me memorize a bunch of stuff, but SIM's help me understand a bunch of stuff. I always leave the testing center wishing I had done more SIM's, not less.
One thought – I realized when I started the test that I didn't understand the difference in tax basis for the different entities as well as I thought I did. All it took was the test to ask me a question in a slightly different way and I was totally confused by something that I thought I understood well. I think I should have made a simple table that would have made studying that portion easier.

AnonymousInactiveThis is a tip from old ninja and I decided to follow it and let me tell you this works. Print any questions you get wrong, find difficult, find to have important concepts. I found myself printing at least 75-90% of the becker questions for each chapter. Yes it means you will need lots of paper and toner/inks. Once you have completed the last chapter go back and review printed mcqs religiously until you have seen each and every mcqs at least three times. Rank them by its difficulty. spend more time on one the ones you get wrong every time you look at them. Hope this helps!

AnonymousInactiveDid NASBA provided you a breakdown of what you were weaker on? Were you weak on simulations?
We can always start with that. I find that summary very accurate.September 9, 2016 at 9:22 pm #832162

monikerncParticipanti used ninja book amd mcqs for REG and hit the questions hard. i used my textbook to help with a lot of the basis concepts. i pulled in bizlaw questions with the tax sections so i wouldn't forget either while studying. bizlaw has 750 questions – it was to big to solely focus on.
this website helped me with basis, too. https://tax.cchgroup.com/downloads/files/contemporary-tax-practice/Module2/Topic2/A-Sec-351-Transfers-Basic-Requirements.aspi printed tax forms with K-1s from IRS site and learned them while doing questions and sims.
i did all the sims listed by CSO off Jeff's list.i read everything that came up with the answers in mcqs. hit review phase and made sure all sections were at least 75% average before taking the exam.
i asked for a handheld calculator for the exam and it made things so much easier and less stressful.
reptition is key to remembering the details amd taking good notes. always do the calculation when answering the mcqs as you study.
review the AL at https://law.cornell.edu
my sims were left field but i did well enough to pass.
you can do it. good luck!

So FAR So GoodParticipantI'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get too much C Corp stuff on the test. Nothing was sinking in when I was studying that section this past week. I think I got 55-60% in Becker for those questions, where everything else has been above 80%. Yikes!

AnonymousInactiveI just recently opassed REG.
I put in more timne to REG than I did FAR. I used Gleim which I felt prepared me very well.
I like the MCQ's in Gleim because it gives you instant feedback on why you got it right or wrong.
The Gleim Sim's were actually harder than the real deal I felt very prerpared their as well.
I did the MCQ's over, and over, and over, and over again until I got to the point where I knew what the correct answer was, and why it was correct before I finished reading the question. Gleim had about 2100 questions for the REG section and I did 9000 MCQ before I took the exam.
Also, don't rush into taking an exam before you are ready. Even if it means losing credit for a prior section in my opinion.
