I know they don’t allow you to bring in any water, but is there any chance they provide water during the test? I don’t have anything like a legitimate medical condition, I am just in the habit of sipping water all day long and always have some with me, otherwise my throat gets irritated… It’s just a really long time.

the local place has a water jug in the waiting area but you need to pass security to get to it.
There is also a water fountain in the hall by the bathroom.
I would not anticipate having water during your actual exam.

There is also a small table in the waiting area just outside the exam room door.
They encourage people to put their drinks and snacks on that table so they don't have to waste time accessing lockers etc.
It's a very small testing center with only 8 computer and 8 lockers, your experience may differ if it is a larger test center.

If you're asking about during the actual exam – the answer is no. No food or liquids are allowed in the testing room. But during the break, you can access your locker for a drink or snack. My center has a water cooler in the lobby so I get a cup from there on my break.

On a related note, bring chapstick or similar. I had an afternoon exam and I restricted water during the morning so I was *so* dry by my testing break and needed the lip balm.

good point Jen! They watched me grab and use lip balm during a break. I guess you can't go into your purse during the break.

@Ana really? I always go into my purse on break – usually to throw on more Chapstick before heading back in. I usually take a protein bar for a snack, but I set that outside of my bag in the locker before the exam typically. But I've never felt watched. Last time, there wasn't even a monitor at the desk when I went to the lobby on break, which I thought was very odd. I try to be careful when I'm in there because I don't want them to think I'm doing something wrong. I'm paranoid about that.

Also, remember to dress warm! You can take your sweater off and hang it on your chair if it gets too warm. My testing center was relatively warm at first but blasted AC during the middle of my exam.

@Jennifer. no lie, they told me I can't go into my locker, to leave my water and food that I'll need during the break out on a shelf . then while on break I asked if I could grab chapstick from my purse and one staff members told the other, “just watch her”. She literally was a foot away from me and watched my like a hawk. under normal circumstances I'd be appalled but considering how we're treated in this experience from A-Z, it doesn't surprise me.

@Ana oh wow, your center sounds much more strict than mine! During the little spiel at the beginning of all the do's and don't's they say we can go in our lockers on breaks but no cell phones or study materials. That's so weird that they have different rules. I really thought they were all uniform across the centers.

i was reading another post that said the new rule is that there is no snacking or water during break, you can't access your locker for a snack. however the post above mentions you can snack. anyone have a source where it clearly states the rules. i might need to snack during the test so that kind of freaks me out.

Yes, check with your testing center. I couldn't take food or drink into the testing area, but on break, I could access my locker for snacks, as well as the community water jug.
During my AUD exam, I stepped outside during break. I didn't know that was a big “no-no.” I thought they were going to void my exam (and I actually passed it the first try). Fortunately, one of the employees saw me outside, and vouched for me, that I didn't look at any review material; was just getting fresh air for a few seconds. Whew!

My prometric had a water dispenser in the lobby. I came out during my test to drink water (counted against my time), then on my scheduled break I was given access to locker. I usually have water bottle and snack with me but leave it at the edge so when I open my locker it's all readily available. and I not am searching in a purse or in the locker. Remember you cannot do anything that looks suspicious to THEM. So be sure to take meds, water, snack out of your backpack and/or purse and leave it ready for when you need it.
