Is anyone else getting Certified in Virginia? I submitted my AICPA ethics course, had my scores transferred from Idaho, sent my College Transcripts, and signed my CPE Requirements form, submitted my application & paid the fee. Since I am applying in the first year since I passed, I do not need to pass the Virginia Specific Ethics or the required CPE for Virginia (I think?)

Is anyone else applying in Virginia, does anyone else know how long it usually takes to receive your license in the mail? Also does anyone else have trouble hearing back from the Board? I emailed on Wednesday to see if they recieved the required documents, but have yet to hear back?

Sorry just really nervous & anxious!!

    AUD 10/25/2015- 69 1/20/2016 -75
    BEC 2/26/2016- 80

    Thank you God

actually you do still need to pass the Ethics test in Virginia. But do get in touch with the board if you have questions about the particulars – they are super nice people.

    @Allegra

You sure? This is from their website:

“Steps to apply for an initial CPA license in Virginia:
Pass all four sections of the CPA exam within an 18-month time period
Login to apply for an initial CPA license
Complete a one-time professional ethics course offered by the AICPA
After completing the online application, the applicant will be notified to submit supporting documentation regarding education requirements, experience qualifications and continuing professional education, including the annual Virginia-Specific Ethics Course.

    Professional Ethics Course
Complete the AICPA self-study Professional Ethics: AICPA's Comprehensive Course (For Licensure) with a score of 90% or better. The applicant may mail, fax or email a copy of the course certificate, with the score, to the VBOA.
Questions about the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct may be directed to the AICPA Professional Ethics Division at ethics@aicpa.org or by calling the Ethics Hotline at 888-777-7077.
    Continuing Professional Education (CPE)
    CPE requirements for licensure include:

No CPE is required for initial licensure if application is submitted within the same calendar-year in which the applicant passed the CPA exam”

i think i know where the confusion comes from; it's between those candidates that passed the exam in 2016 vs prior to 2016. as payaza2000 quoted at the end, u won't need the VA Ethics if you're applying for the license “in the year” you passed all the cpa exams.

i mailed all the relevant forms out today. wonder how long it takes for them to mail me my “official” CPA license. does anyone know?

all in all, i'm just glad i have this freedom to not study, to not feel guilty when i was not studying. this newly found freedom has been slowly sinking in me.

    Licensed CPA since Apr 16

@ payaza2000: You can call and speak with someone. Sometimes they are unavailable but I have spoken to one or two staff members. Last week I spoke with Nicholas Tazza about the 4 credits I am missing. They are usually patient and can explain stuff to you if you need clarification. Otherwise I have found that they respond to emails within a day or two, from my experience.

    2010:
    BEC: 74, 71, 74, 75
    AUD: 71, 74, 83
    REG: 71, 76
    FAR: (I quit) 34, 45

    2015:
    BEC: 79
    AUD: 78
    REG: 67, 76
    FAR: 56 (trial run), 74, 74, 74, 80!
Thank God. Your prayers are always answered! Do not give up. Thank you St. Joseph Cupertino.

Another VA candidate here, chiming in. I am seconding contacting Nick – he is awesome. I also use their online chat whenever I have an easy question.

As for me, I still need to take the AICPA ethics exam and get my work verification sent in. Plan on wrapping up everything with goal of getting my license number in April.

Hey Payaza2000! I'm now in this boat, submitted everything and wondering when I'll be official. How long after this post was your license officially registered on the website? Thanks!
