Using Authoritative Literature for Sims

I read about using the AL a lot in regards to Sims. I have gotten two near passing scores on REG back to back, with my last score being a 71. In hindsight, I felt lost on the Sims. I tried to spend a good amount of time looking things up in the IRC, but to no avail. Does anybody have suggestions on how to get comfortable with the AL? Is it just a matter of glancing through the IRC and becoming relatively familiar where things are so you don’t waste a ton of time trying to search through? To this day, I still don’t feel 100% comfortable/sure how to effectively use the search function on the exam. When I passed audit, I was able to look up parts of a couple sims, but I feel like the IRC is much more overwhelming. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think AL for Reg only helps if you forgot some minor detail or need to confirm what you for the most part already know. I don't think you can go in “blind” and have the AL answer it for you. It's a huge help for Aud but Reg is different.. Just my opinion from my 1 time Reg experience…

I agree. That's basically how I felt when I tried to research certain things about the questions I was being asked. I just got to thinking about it because of a co-worker saying besides the research question, he was able to find 2 of his other sims in the IRC and he felt like that really helped him. I have also seen posts about it on here.
