I am unsure if it will count for Texas CPA, but a more affordable option may be the Master's in Accounting at Texas A&M University at Commerce. It is also easy to get into.

No idea on whether their credits work for the CPA or not. But if you think you might want to work in public, I'd steer clear of places like UoP or Devry. I know my office tosses those resumes.

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but those programs are easy and cheap for a reason.

I got my Master's from Walden University, a somewhat similar online university. I did my research though. They are fully accredited and respected in the college community. I have been under the impression that, in most cases, the CPA trumps where you got your education from and it even trumps what your degree was in. Just research. Ask someone at the school within the department.

    FAR - 75 (2/25/16)
    AUD - 80 (4/8/16)
    REG - 80 (6/10/16)
    BEC - 79 (7/19/16)

You only get one shot with the spirit bomb.

I completed my bachelors from UoP several years ago and back then colleges didn't have too many online classes for people like me (single parent working full time) but now all that has changed. UoP is accredited, all of my credits were accepted by the Texas State Board (TSBPA) except for 5 accounting classes that I had to take at a local college.

UoP has a bad rap even though more well known brick and mortar colleges are offering the same fully online bachelors and masters degrees as UoP. BUT if I could do it all over again, I would only go to a reputable college and not one that is just fully online like UoP. People and companies do judge you on it (unfortunately). Even though I'm eligible to sit for the CPA exam, I'm starting my Masters program at West Texas A&M so that I can trump my degree at UoP.

    I hope that helps.

C9p9a9 – My degree/credits were accepted at not only A&M but also Tarleton University Master Program. I decided to go to A&M. I believe its more difficult to get into a college on campus (boarding) than just attending online courses. Also, if you have a GPA of 3.0 or higher you can be omitted from the GMAT testing. Sam Houston, UOH require a 3.5 or higher if not then the GMAT test will be required. I learned the hard way around things before getting it right.

Again. I would go straight to a reputable college so your not judged differently. Here is the link I found when I started looking last year.

I completed my undergrad at a Big 10 school. Later I did 18 accounting credit hours at a different State university. Since I was not seeking a degree , they cut me off. I was then forced to finish my courses at U of Phoenix. It is what it is, you don't learn as well, the classes are packed in so quickly. However my state board said the classes qualified. I wouldn't recommend getting a degree from there, but to get your 30 hours it will work. Expensive though!!

Are you looking for a Masters degree or just the courses to get to 150? I have an undergrad degree and stayed an extra year to get the extra courses at the undergrad rate. Went to apply to sit and found out I was still short 2 credits so I took them at a community college and it was completely online. It was interior design at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, IN but they have many campuses all over the state so it might be worth it. They let me take the course without any major courses or fees since I wasn't seeking a degree.

Also, a lot of accredited universities now have online masters program. I am thinking of Indiana University's Kelley School of Business MBA called Kelley Direct. Expensive? Yes… not sure about the easy to get into.

I think that is why UoP and Devry might be snubbed on is because how easy it is to get into. Some programs may even waive the GMAT requirement, so lots of things to research!

one of my former acctg professors is now at sam houston state. he says it is a great school and i can attest they now have the only professor i would have ever wanted to take gov/nfp from. he moved there because he had so many colleagues in the acctg dept so maybe they are all very good.
