    Hello,

I began sitting for the CPA in California (where I go to school) and have already passed FAR and AUD. However, I am starting work as a public accounting auditor in August in Chicago, Illinois. My goal is to eventually become licensed in Illinois where I am working, but I can not simply transfer my CPA exam scores from California to Illinois due to Illinois’ laws (I didn’t have 150 credits when I began taking exams in CA. IL therefore won’t recognize my scores). So, my only real option is to become licensed in California since I have almost passed all the exams in that state.

My question is about transferring my license to Illinois. I can’t seem to find solid information online about how difficult the process is. When I called they also didn’t seem to have much information. Illinois law doesn’t allow an individual to practice as a CPA unless they are licensed by their state, so I need to become recognized by the Illinois state board to identify as a CPA. Has anyone ever transferred a license from one state to another, or even better transferred to the state of Illinois?

    Thanks

I live and work in Chicago, My license is from Iowa, I never transferred it, I am not signing off on audits though.

For IL and any other State you are required to meet that states requirements for licensing…Meaning you need 150 Credit hours of college in order to get the license.

So enjoy your schooling, just like everybody else did.
