Anyone else tally up what they’ve paid so far for the CPA? Two review programs, numerous nts’s and some anticipated fails along with a few anticipated passes, I’ve forked over a total of $6,250; that’s if I don’t fail any going forward.

Feel free to share what you’ve paid so far…

I spent about $8,000(prep courses, application, multiple NTS, etc) to pass the CPA and get licensed in Tennessee, moved to California and just waiting for my license # to be issued after 6 months! it cost me another $1800 by the time I paid for additional classes required, California Ethics (because the AICPA Ethics isn't good enough for Cali! lol!) background check and application + licensing fees…so close to $10 grand…but it did land me a job with a significant pay increase!

A big chunk of that $ includes when few years ago I had decided to go with Becker with all 4 parts purchased at once. Only ended up taking 2 tests, before life had different plans.

Now decided again to finish up, wanted to go a more economical route with Ninja (67/mo.).

Right around 10k. I had a history degree so I had to take 2 years of accounting courses at community college before purchasing Wiley and taking all of the exams. Work reimbursed probably 5K of that amount though. Luckily 5k over 3 years hasn't been too bad because the costs have been spread out.

I think my total was somewhere around $5k. Got myself a $25k raise out of it, so money well spent.

4 x Exams: ~$1000
3 x Retake Exams: ~$750
Total: ~$5,450
Out of My Pocket: $2,250 (left the firm and had to payback for some of the review course)

But I got the actual license in October, then I got a new job (and I know having my CPA was part of the reason I was hired so quickly), and now I am making $10,000+ more than when I started without it. Worth it!

About $5K with prep and NTS's. These CPA folks don't let you do anything for free, that's for sure.

$0. Becker paid for by my firm and got reimbursed for all the admin/exam fees. If anything, I got $5K bonus for passing the exam. Life is good.
