Sat for the good ol’ monster that is REG this morning. Tough exam for sure. Thought the MCQs went far more into depth in comparison to the other exams. Here is a little breakdown:

Testlet 1 – Seemed a little tough to be a “medium” testlet. Checked the answer the the very first question when I got home and I changed the right answer to a wrong one, FML. Lots of wordy and lengthy questions for an opening testlet, had to guess on a decent amount of them. I think I submitted with 4 flagged. Felt not great, but OK on this one.

Testlet 2 – Might have been a little harder than the first, but overall seemed pretty comparable to the first. Again, had to do some guessing and a fair amount of narrowing down to 2 possible answers. Submitted with 6 flagged. Again, felt so-so about this testlet.

Testlet 3 – A lot of one-liners and answers I was able to pick up within 15 seconds. The easiest testlet IMO, but still had difficult questions mixed in, even though they were short I saw a couple traps the AICPA tried to set. Think I had 4 flagged when I submitted.

SIMS – Had about 1 hr 45 mins going into the SIMS. All calculations (no drop downs) but I really didn’t think they were THAT bad. They were tough for sure but I wouldn’t say they were any harder than my FAR or AUD SIMS. I think I know which one was pretest, just because it was so far removed from the REG material, but you never know. I spent a legit 40 mins on the research question, which is ridiculous, but I am about 95% sure I found it. Once I finished all of them, I had about 20 mins to review my answers and made a few minor changes that might have just been one wrong answer to another lol. But overall I’d say I feel pretty good about 3 of them, partially OK about 2 of them, and 1 that was just WTF.

As I saw someone else say on here – I have felt better about exams and failed, but also felt worse and passed. I am someone in the middle on this one so not entirely sure what to make of it. In a strange way I kind of feel like if I failed it was because of MCQs and not SIMS, which is terrifying to me because I usually have some sense of confidence in MCQs and none with SIMS. So it is just an overall different experience and feel with this one, no idea what June 8 will bring. Good luck to any of you other Q2 REG takers out there, I hope we all get the news we want!

If I recall, you're using (or used I should say, hopefully you pass and are done with this nonsense) Becker correct? Without going into specifics, what 3 chapters out of the 8 would you say to focus on? I'm in final review mode and take it on Friday

I used Becker and NINJA MCQ – about 90% NINJA for the last 3 weeks. I would honestly recommend studying the entire Becker book and not cutting any corners with this one.

I've already gone through the entire Becker book through the normal course of study, and did all the MCQ's twice. Just looking for some direction as to which chapters I should perhaps pay a little more attention on in these last few days of review in your opinion.

That's hard to say given that your exam will not be the same as mine, and I also don't want to get into content. You know better than anyone where your weaknesses are, so I'd say whatever those are then focus on those. But like I mentioned, it is important to study the whole book, there is a lot of material to test on this one

Hey did you do the whole review phase thing for NINJA? I'm taking REG as my last exam also next week. Looking to see how you feel NINJA helped for REG? Although, I guess if you didn't get to the review phase and get 90 plus trending, we have different situations..

    BEC: 72, 75
    FAR: 74, 84
    AUD: 82
    REG: 71, 77!!!

@Nets – I did not hit the review phase and was trending at 85% (in my prior comment I was saying I spent about 90% of my time on ninja towards the end). But ninja was for sure helpful, there were for sure a lot of questions that were very close to some ninja mcqs

Thank you for this. Even though the information is general (as it has to be) it's a great help!!!

I was thinking about leaving 1.5 hours for the SIMS. 40 minutes on the research, I can relate – not fun!
